The future is coming the future is... Anthony Joshua

Wlad has been singing his praises again, is there anyone on here who doubts that AJ will become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Of The World within 3 years?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02ybm4w
Joshua is the real deal and will become British Champion soon when he batters Cornish inside 2 rounds, then he'll simply brush aside Dillian Whyte within 3 rounds then he'll KO Erkan Tepe (within 2 Rounds) for the European Strap (if Tepe still has it then) .... then we get into the Big Time and it's a non stop rise to the very top of the pile
Who do you think can stop AJ..?
Would love to hear your thoughts on this subject
Tickets selling well too

Barring a weak chin and/or massive stamina issues, I think he most likely will.

I really hope Tepe lands heavy in an opening exchange, the guy can bang and it's a good test for AJ that fight so hope he gets caught flush, smiles back then destroys him in the following rounds... ala... The Hawk v Cervantes

I'm sure Capricorn1 was on the Audley bandwagon too, when he looked great against the usual assortment of early career stiffs.
British heavies need to prove it in the ring---they have a long history of failure.
When Joshua does something notable, then you can fantasize about him actually becoming a real heavyweight champion like Wlad. Until then, he remains suspect goods.

Wlad has said the same about so many other folk...he's smart, he's building up the next era

I've had my doubts over AJ since day one.
My initial assessment was that he was the new Frank Bruno, tall, very muscular and powerful, looked a bit stiff and upright early on and came across as a really nice guy.
To be fair I wasn't alone in that assessment and he seems to have taken it on board, he's looked a bit more fluid in recent fights with more variety and is putting some real spite into his work to erase the nice guy (peoples champion
![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)
) image
So he's answered my initial technical concerns about his style.
But there is still a lingering doubt there. He has been completely untested, fought a lot of real C and D level guys and has never fought anyone with even the suggestion they came to attempt to beat him. Yes he has looked devastating against the guys he has faced and dealt with them very impressively but his chin hasn't had the test it needs and he hasn't been put on the back foot
I don't have any reason to doubt his chin/heart etc or think that he will struggle when put under pressure, but until he is, I'll be excused from the AJ hype train and not be calling him the next Lennox quite yet.
His next 2 fights, although against opposition he should beat comfortably, is against 2 big guys with unbeaten records and are hopefully coming with a bit of ambition and not fased by AJ's reputation. That will tell us something new.
Then I hope to see him face real fringe world level guys and then and only then will I make a semi-confident prediction on whther he can become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Audley Harrison won a gold medal when he was like 29 against fairly mediocre opposition. Anthony Joshua won a gold medal when he was like 21 against a really strong field. As far as indicators of potential, these two things are not the same.

Joshua appears to be the most solid prospect out there. I look forward to seeing his development from here on.
He is big enough and strong enough to handle WKlit's octopus act. He seems to have good power, though that could change at top end.
Hopefully we will get to see Joshua v Povetkin, Wilder, Jennings, Fury, etc. before the end of the decade.

I'd bet heavily that AJ would have Fury out of there withing 3 rounds if they fought tomorrow, Fury freely admits he already bashed him up in sparring a few years back!

He's defiantly got a great chance, it's also very rare to see so many Americans get excited about a uk prospect so he must have something!

Here's comes another Brit that wins a few fights and now he's Cassius Clay. He's fought 13 times against bums and now he's the next love child for the British contingent. Quite an annoying band you Brits are.

We haven't had a genuine heavyweight prospect like this since Lennox Lewis, David Haye yes but came up from Cruiser why shouldn't we get behind him and show our support, he's extremely entertaining seems a nice and grounded guy and knocks everyone out!
Whats not to like about him

You guys already have an undefeated heavyweight about to fight for the greatest championship in boxing, why not support that guy? Now there's a post about the future of boxing being a guy with 13 pro fights without a noteworthy victory. You guys need to pump the break wit the way you jump on fighters backs. It's a bit annoying, but you seem kind of cool.

Fury doesn't convince me since he was put on his ass by a Cruiserweight i see him is a bit of a fraud really who has taken 7 years to get where he is and a seemingly easy route against fighters who simply aren't that good, i just see Wlad blasting him out inside a few rounds with a huge left hook.
Eddie Hearn seems to be willing to cut the brake cables on Joshua now and i personally think AJ has loads more to him that he's yet to be able to show because he's knocking everyone out.
I like his variety of punches especially when up close and he seems to enjoy hurting people which is good to see.

I'm not sure if his current style is really good for his size. he does have power but I think he is too aggressive for his height. he reminds me a Little of Young wlad who has paid for that style too.
He is a great Talent and probably will become a world champ but tall Boxers who are aggressive and hit a lot of combinations tend to get hit and AJ can be hit too.
they should stop feeding him bums because the longer he does this style the harder it is to get rid of it. when he faces chinny or hard punching guys he Needs to fight at a measured pace and not open himself up that much.

I'm not much of a cheerleader, I don't really get all excited about fighters because they are from my home country, I just like to watch good fighters.
Fury has sod all chance against Wlad, and I've even bought a ticket for the fight - the buildup will be better than the main event, but Dusseldorf will be fun.
Joshua is much better technically - but may be in for some harsh lessons if he finds himself in a real fight, and is extended beyond 6 rounds, and starts getting hit back - everyone looks good when they are pummelling their opponent, but it remains to be seen if he keeps bowling them over.
There's not been a heavyweight born yet who was able to just steamroller everyone he fought - not Tyson, not Louis, not Dempsey, nor even Marciano for all their devastating hitting power, had it all their own way. A test will come for Joshua, and then we will find out if he is just a punching machine, or a fightin' man, - so to speak.

In better days they'd be a matchup between Joshua and Parker to determine who the best HW prospect is . . .sigh

Yes Joshua is exciting.
But until he beats some live opponents I will wait and see what becomes of him.
I have got excited about far too many SURE FIRE CHAMPIONS.

Ditto.
I was pretty high on David Price - and look how that ended.

Joshua is the best HW prospect I've seen in many decades. Parker and Hughie Fury are interesting too.
Talking about interesting, the jury is still out on Wilder. Maybe Deontay's power was over-rated, but he can go rounds and win rounds and that's pretty damn important last time I checked.

all a bit guesswork at this stage, but i can imagine Joshua coming undone when he finds himself in a fight, maybe against a Pulev or Wach type opponent.

I'd love to know what actually happened when Joshua sparred Klitschko. Malik Scott said he more than held his own. Klitschko said he did very, very good and has since said he's so confident he'll become the dominant heavyweight, he'd put money on Joshua to win any other fight that comes up, and now that he's the most promising fighter he's ever seen.
Being a heavyweight it is unlikely he'll finish his career without ever being knocked out. But the lingering questions seem to just be chin and stamina. I'd imagine sparring gives a clear picture of stamina. And if his chin wasn't tested sparring 15 or 20 rounds with Klitschko then who is going to be good enough to test it?

Ok, so I felt like a hypocrite for commenting on a boxer that I've never seen throw a punch so I watched some tape on this kid Joshua. Now I freaking like the guy, dammit. The guy chiseled and most of the time, those kinds of builds lead to robotic fighters but this guy seems super athletic. Ok, now I'm excited too and can admit when I'm wrong. I can see why you guys are excited about this cat.
