Aw shucks Simon, yer makin' me blush here. I just try to keep some of the discussions on track. You are so right - there are SOME folks who are just wasting our time, but I do still find this board interesting enough to keep dropping in. Some good controversial questions raised.
As for my knowledge of Chicago boxing, I wish there was more to be knowledgable about! In the 80s, my heyday for following the fight game, we didn't have too much homegrown talent. Guys like Bodzianowski, Tillis, Collins, LaPaglia, Lira, Lomeli. Some talent there, but good matches were hard to come by. Lots of stiff opponents, like the immortal Simmie Black, whose losses were counted in the dozens. But I managed to see some good bouts. I've tried to list all the champions - past, reigning and future - I've seen fight here. A surprisingly long list. Hagler, Weaver, Mancini, Antuofermo, Starling, Tucker, Rossman, Taylor, Olivo, O'Grady, McGuigan, Honeyghan, Bruno. Best live bouts I saw were Collins-LaPaglia in 83, Hagler-Hamsho in 81 and Olivo-Clyde in 82.
