Junior featherweight contender Scott Quigg (31-0, 23 KOs), who impressively stopped former beltholder Kiko Martinez in two rounds last month, switched places in the 122-pound rankings with UK rival Carl Frampton, who got up from two first-round knockdowns against unrated Alejandro Gonzalez to win on points. Quigg is now rated No. 1. Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs), the holder of the IBF title, is rated No. 3.

Rigondeaux recognised as the Champion, with Quigg no.1 contender.

Interesting. I can understand their logic. Hate the term Junior Featherweight though. It's definitely Super Bantamweight.

Hopefully the two of them can settle it in the ring. I think Frampton is getting a bit too much stick for the Gonzalez performance. Gonzalez was a lot better than what most people expected and Frampton was a clear winner away from home. I still think Frampton wins but Quiggs win over Martinez definitely puts a little bit of doubt in my mind and makes the fight much closer on paper.

Signing with Al must have taken away some points. There is no argument for Quigg been higher then Frampton. Quigg beat Kiko who Frampton had already beaten, twice. The rest of the Quiggs opponents are C level and are worse then Framptons.

Quigg destroyer Martinez in fairness while Frampton had a late stoppage & a points win. Which means even though his opposition has been wank he did a better job.

A nonsense. Most of Quigg's opposition is very sub-standard (but perfectly acceptable for Skysports, so there's all the proof you need to know how below par it must be).

Winning in Amercia against a young, hungry contender (who was very underrated on the Boxrec forum) carried more weight IMO.

Probably not going to help in any negotiations between the two camps

TBRB are far better, ESPN are better and so are Boxing Monthly. The Ring have been living off their reputation for years now.

You think beating Gonzalez Jr is better than beating Martinez?

Id like to see how quigg would do against Gonzalez Junior but id rather just see Quigg vs Frampton asap.

I really do think Quigg is underrated on this forum.

it's swings and roundabouts with these two. A couple of years back i think most would have favoured Quigg over Frampton but Frampton took on better opponents and raced ahead. Would only take a big win (over someone Frampton hasn't already beaten) to give him the boost to get ahead.

Quigg isn't even a genuine world champion. I'd have him 4 or 5 on my list.

Frampton beat him fair and square twice, but Quigg destroyed him. It seemed the majority were saying before the fight that Martinez has improved and would KO Quigg. He deserves props for the win. Frampton V Quigg is a genuine 50/50 in my eyes and would be great for boxing in the UK.

Martinez has improved since he lost to Munroe and probably after his first defeat to Frampton, but not since their fight last September. Quigg deserves credit for the win but I didn't find it any more impressive than either of Frampton's wins over Martinez, less impressive in many ways. I really wouldn't call it a destruction, Martinez dominated the first round then Quigg dropped him in the second and finished him off well, if that goes down as a destruction then the same could be the said about Frampton's first win over him, Martinez gave him some trouble for a while, then Frampton flattened him with one punch.

Thats hardly enough to rate him higher. One win is still less then two wins even if the finish is quicker. And dont forget which were first and also that Frampton took Kikos world title with the second win.

I'm a fan of both fighters, but Frampton is getting way too much credit on here at the moment. Frampton looked like crap against Gonzales - if Quigg had looked that bad, he'd be ridiculed on here. And somehow Frampton also manages to get more credit for beating Martinez twice in less impressive fashion than Quigg did?

Sounds like Wake is going to chase his mandatory shot against Frampton, that'd be a good win if he beats him.... Quigg had fought some terrible opposition recently...be nice to see him with Donaire around the same date...

I thought we were talking about Quigg v Frampton whether Quigg is a world champion (which he isnt) is irrelevant.
