What next for Bellew?

Anybody hear any more on Tony? Hopefully he is still committed to his boxing career and not getting too involved in the Hollywood side of things, but I suspect he will be out promoting the new Rocky movie soon enough.

Has his heart still been in the game since the Stevenson loss? The Clev fight was horrible, and although Tony felt it was Clev who made it so ugly, I have been left really underwhelmed with his performances since moving up to Cruiser. He has looked slow, fleshy and seems to have completely lost any explosiveness he once had.

Looking back the Chilemba win looks decent, especially as Chilemba has raised his profile since then and seems likely to challenge for a version of the world title within the next year or two. Boxrec have him ranked no.7 at Light Heavy.

Crusier does look weak when you consider Boxrec have Bellew ranked no.9 and McKenzie at no.7, and both Drozd and Lebedev at 35 must surely be past their peaks.

Anybody know what the planned route is for Tony? WBC (Drozd) have him 10th, IBF (Hernandez) have him 7th but have no no.1 or no.2, WBA (Lebedev) have him 10th, and WBO (Hucik) have him no. 3.

Seems like WBO is the expected route, but Hucik may just be the best of the current champs. Also saw BJ Flores has said he would like to fight somebody like Tony before the end of the year.

Always think that moving up is for the end of your career or for the money. 98% of fighters are less effective at higher weights. It really only suits guys who trade on speed and defensive craft. Offensive fighters are never quite the same.

The loss to Stevenson shouldn't be seen as such a big thing. Tony was away from home and Stevenson was the most in-form boxer at any weight class at that time.

Tony is a mix of intelligence and emotion in the ring and 'd love to see him get a chance at a world title on home soil. Wish he could still make 175. But I'll always be a fan.

He's lucky, once his boxing career is over he can walk straight into the job of "proffesional whinger" or "Gran lover"

Went right off Boomer after his "home of boxing" tirade.

I'd fancy Mckenzie to beat him now.
Bellew looked stale for a while now.

Won't be Hernandez he is fighting his mandatory in Victor Ramirez at the end of next month in Argentina in a fight which I think he will lose.

The WBO ordered Bellew v Glowacki as a final eliminator but he turned it down to film Creed. Glowacki was named mandatory and fights Huck at the weekend.

Don't be fooled by Lebedev and Drozds age both are solid fighters and Drozd is a late bloomer both would be too much for Bellew IMO

To be fair, he is not usually backward at coming forwards however both Boomer and Price have been suspiciously silent on the subject !

Anyway, to answer the original question - he will get an immediate rematch, in Liverpool, for big money, on PPV and will continue to get an immediate rematch, in Liverpool, for big money, on PPV until he wins a World title that he so richly deserves. :TU:

In Rotherham - how does that work ?

He left Arnie because Manchester was too far to travel to train - Geography isn't his strong point.

I can't believe you disbelievers - he is one of the most talented warriors from the fighting city of Liverpool who is always willing to go out on his shield in every fight (I know this because I have heard him say it many times).

Bellew for me is one of them 'sugar and sh*te' type characters. Sometimes I quite like him and other times he gets right on my nipple ends!

Hearn just said in his latest interview he will have an 8 rounder in Texas on the McDonnell Kameda undercard. He feels that is best because in the UK there is no interest in him in nothing fights.

He's changed his tune since him and Clev was declared a PPV worthy fight.

Absolutely. Also he "CARRIES POWAAA!!"

How there can be so many disbelievers after he declared this I will never know.
