Can't help feeling I've dropped a clanger here. I knew Shane Moseley wouldn't be far away but I'd completely and utterly forgotten about Oscar De La Hoya
It's almost the impossible task. People may mention controversy around Moseley and Jones Jnr. I couldn't agree more about cheating but...I'm of an opinion that these guys would have been as good had they allegedly broken rules, or had they not.

Who to drop though if I wanted to include Oscar? Hopkins? No. RJJ? Obviously not. Barrera - fought Morales and took the smugness away from ring-bully, Citizen Naseem Hamed.......Mayweather? Sorry, no can do. You can't drop a man who charges $400million/hourly fee - and gets it! So what about Joe "I'm the King of the Cardiff castle" Calzaghe??........Talent-wise, Joe could have boxed up a gear and still have been successful......I don't think Joe sought to clean out his division, so, although I loved his style of fighting over just about everyone, I would probably say Oscar send him out of my 5 (in the time I've followed Boxing).

So, Barrera, Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Roy Jones Jnr, Hopkins.

And I say that knowing that I've probably been unfair on the man from the Philippines, sorry Manny.

Yep. Hadn't consciously considered that to be honest but you're right.

My list is of my favourite to watch for value, grit and hardness.
If it's a list of skills then it's completely different.

Lewis got banged out TWICE in that time, which for me isn't something to be associated with the highest level of the sport. Very competent fighter, but he enjoyed significant physical gifts alongside his ability, and he made the most of those. He also deserves a mention for the way that he went out - and managed to stay out. That's a trick that surprisingly few manage to pull off.

also refreshing with Lewis was his rejection of the "I'm a heavyweight so I know, I'll be a fat boy" attitude.

I'm not having a go at Lenny's list but I'm a little shocked at how high some have Lewis for me he's a good champ that got sparked a couple of times by really average fighters while at his peak , the rahman one was in between Lewis fighting an old holyfield and a completely shot Tyson .

I'm not having a go at his list but the top technicians don't get put out like that, without knowing a thing about it. Heavyweights or not. I think he was a very good, disciplined and not to mention brave, tough heavyweight - but I don't think he sits pretty at the top like that.

I'd insert anyone from Moseley, Cotto, Oscar DLH, Winky Wright, Vernon Forrest, even Naseem Hamed and certainly Joe Calzaghe. I don't wanna sound like I'm savaging the guy - which I probably do - a big lummox like Lennox is never going to "box like Oscar" - so I'm probably not being quite fair. Depends what you like I guess. Also I realise that someone like Winky never cleaned out his division, but I just thought he was ace.

A good watch actually, if you can find it - is a documentary on Youtube about Oliver McCall. Prior to his fight with Lewis, in London I believe, they had earmarked the exact punch - never mind combination, that they were looking for. Perhaps they thought it was his only chance and it was all his eggs in the one basket - but they'd clearly identified a chink. And then in round two I think, he found it! That's why he was so over the moon, because they'd gone over it and over it and over it. So from that POV, very impressive from the Bull there.
