Wouldn't mind seeing him get a decent fight now. He still has a little bit left and he's highly entertaining.

he was scheduled to fight a rematch with someone else, another brazilian guy
who had been billed as the next freitas in the brazilian press years ago who
freitas came out of retirement to ko, but the guy backed out. i don't think these
are sincere comebacks. they are one-time fights every few years way above
his natural competition weight against guys he knows he can beat. he's talking
about another world title, though.
i thought he was over 40 but i checked on this site and he doesn't turn 40 for
another few months. has a gym and trains lots of boxers in his home town,
salvador, including many youngers generations of freitas. i was there in june.
his nephew vitor jones, who uses the ring name freitas, was on the undercard.
vitor got pinched for steroids in his pro debut in vegas but has come back from that.
popo has held public office and been involved with many international businesses, and
despite fame and fortune never forgot where he came from and is very much a local
leader as well as nationally loved.

Knocking the sh!t out of Veron is a statement... for those unfamiliar with Veron, he is one of the best gatekeeper in Argentina... regularly gets upsets to the point he shouldn't be called a gatekeeper anymore... It was a bold move at this point of Freitas' career to fight an opponent like Veron and he made a statement out of it... brutal

Verons recent form makes me think he just doesn't care any more, not the fighter he was a few years back.

so he lost 2 hard battles against 2 of the best in the sport, so that means he needed to go hide in shame.
he needs to drop at least 15lbs, preferably 20, before he takes on anyone ranked.
