CyberboxingZone

I was doing a bit of research for something, and found a site I had long forgotten. I thought it had died, but it's still there, and it seems they have an up to date news wire, so they must still be active.

There's some great articles in there, and some very interesting pieces regarding old time fighters against modern ones, which chime largely with what I have always felt.

Anyway, there's some very interesting reading there, so thought I'd share it with you guys.

Wow, that's a blast from the past.

When I was first turning into a boxing anorak, sites like CyberboxingZone, SecondsOut and a little later Max Boxing were go to resources alongside the long-time defunct BritishBoxing.net.

While three are still going, they have been in decline for a long time and that's a great shame.

SecondsOut is still going? I used to visit that site every day, haven't been on it for years - the last time I visited there was hardly any content on there & I assumed it would have shut down by now.

Jeez, there's a surprise!

Maxboxing is crap now - I spent 2 years writing for them, sad to see how peripheral it has now become - I don't think it ever worked financially for them, so they just turned into an horrible looking ad platform, with pretty poor articles. It's a sad shadow of the site it once was.

Cyberboxingzone has some excellent archived material still, though there's no contributions to the articles for several years, it's still a good resource, and it has it's own newswire.

Perhaps we should all join the foreign legion.

Or just head down the British Legion, and get smashed.

I used to read a forum about 10 years ago that was allegedly closed down due to threatened legal action from a well known promoter.

There were a few boxers who posted on there ( the likes if Mark Potter) but I cant remember what it was called ? Anybody remember?

I think that was that the Eastside Boxing forum. That was the first one i was a member of if i remember correctly. Yellow & black? Then it was shutdown and most people moved over to the Secondsout forum.

I went for a nose around SecondsOut yesterday actually - there seemed to be far more content on there than I was expecting. Only had a quick look as I was in work, but might be worth checking out again in future

The boxing bbc 606 page was really good and popular about 10 years ago til they shut it down.

It's a real shame that they closed the forum and that the archived posts have since disappeared from the web. I used to enjoy ghosting there.

Going way back to the late 90s I used to frequent boxing wise. That was a fab forum.

Does anyone know where the writers/posters from Cyberzone migrated to?

Also, is Rocky writing about boxing anywhere online? I always enjoyed his stuff. I know he had some issues circa 2012 that would have prevented him from doing so for a while.

I felt Maxboxing died a bit when Doug Fischer moved over to Ring online.

Used to really like Boxingranks, I did.

Don't know if he's still writing but he's active on a load of Facebook boxing groups.
