Gennady Golovkin HOF Potential

If Golovkin beats Lemieux, Then goes on 2016 to Defeat Canelo Alvarez (I am not rulling out Cotto but a matchup with Canelo because of his Mexican fanbase would generate more Money and Fame for both of them) and Andy lee by KO to Unify the WHOLE division and become the first undisputed champion since Taylor, will you consider him HOF'er when he retires?
Also where would you rank him in the p4p rankings by then?

The thread is about the potential which presumes ifs and thens. I agree with the first poster that beating Lemieux, Cotto/Canelo winner and Lee/Saunders winner will likely almost guarantee him future HOF. If he beats Ward after unifying MW, it will make him #1 p4p.

If he continues to win like he has, he will be remembered as a very good fighter....the best of his time period. He needs some signature wins to make him to be considered hof or an atg. So far he will be remembered as a super amateur fighter.

Anyone that you have mentioned who beats all of the others will achieve the same (with the exception of Ward).
End of . . .

I have to agree. I say sit back and enjoy the ride. Time will tell if GGG is a hall of famer.
I just want to enjoy his fights for now and see how his career progresses.

obviously, but that's not what the OP asked
The thread isn't about them, the question is specifically regarding GGG
So to recap.....
If GOLOVKIN beats LEMIEUX/CANELO/LEE/WARD, is he a hall of famer or not?
It's a fairly straight forward yes or no question and you can even stick you thought on why in there too

Gennady Golovkin needs to be in with someone decent first, he is getting a bit like Sven ottke with his opponents shame really as he has the potential to become great!

Already answered the completely pointless question of this utterly ridiculous thread.

Ridiculous thread? Are you an idiot or you pretend to be one?

There's a percentage of the public that will just never give GGG credit. He could knock out Lemieux, Lee and Canelo inside 5 rounds and we'll hear how overrated those boxers were.
Anyone putting together a P4P list today that doesn't have GGG in one of the top 2 spots is either a hater or dumb. Right now-at this minute- he's the baddest man on the planet-the most avoided boxer in the world-no one can get to the final bell against him.
You can't criticize him for level of opposition if you also consider him the most avoided boxer.

There's nothing wrong with this thread.
My answer is yes, if he does all that, culminating in a win over ward, I'd say he's an ATG in the middleweight division.

I think that's a little bit over the top, I'd say top 5. If you want to put him in the top 2 fine, but there's other fighters you can certainly make a case for 4 spots ahead of him.
I'm not going to go into an endless back and forth on this, but I think people just need to temper their ardour for GGG just a little, until he's beaten someone else in the PFP top 10 or even 20.

Don't get all defensive just because I point out how pointless your question is.
Any of those included in the scenario you so brilliantly devised who accomplished what you are asking about 3G would make the Hall Of Fame if they did the same including beating 3G. Therefore, your question is obvious and pointless.
If Quillin did the same he would make it too. Lara? The same.
If A beat B and C and D then would A qualify for the HOF? Sure A would but the same is true for B and C and D and E and F and the rest of the fvcking alphabet.

Already both sides, canelo and cottos management are both backing away from fighting GGG after their fight, the fact he cannot get fights with high ranked fighters speaks volumes

Even after GOLOVKIN beats LEMIEUX/CANELO/LEE, he will likely qualify for HOF. Beating Ward would propel him to p4p #1.

That's if he gets past Lemuix, I'm not sure if he can. He still has to fight guys like Ward, Cotto, Canelo, ect.

I completely agree, as I have in the countless other threads on this topic.

Except that for Golovkin, the "if" is mainly about getting those opponents in the ring with him, while for Quillin and Lara, it is the "if" (pretty big one) they can beat those three. Quillin already tried to beat the weakest of them and failed.

Probably No. 1 if Mayweather has retired.

He could have had Lara by now. While I agree that he is avoided please don't overplay that hand.
And please refrain from Floydiot style pronouncements of victory in absentia.

Why would he want/need Lara ? The aim is to unify MW belts, not to fight another light middle unknown to casual fans.

What a fanboy copout. "My heartthrob is being avoided!"
Lara wants to fight him at 160.
"Lara is not worthy!"
Ward wants to fight him at 168.
"Ward will have to wait."
So Lemieux is the best fight out there?
"Everyone else is ducking and running from my heartthrob."
I think it is time to coin his fanboys "3Gism."

Yes, Lemieux is definitely the best fight out there behind the Cotto/Canelo winner. If Lara wants to fight at 160, he needs to move up and win a belt.
Ward wants to fight at 168 ? Good for him, but he is too late, as Golovkin reached the level where he doesn't need Ward at this time. He has unification fights lined up AT HIS OWN WEIGHT. Ward will have to wait for a few months and demonstrate that he can still make 168 and beat somebody worth mentioning at that weight.
