Reid rages at Warren
A fierce war of words has erupted between boxing promoter allegedly and local fighter Robin Reid.
The row centres on the boxer's failure to gain admission to Ricky Hatton's recent title bout at the Manchester Evening News Arena.
Bolton-based super- middleweight Reid reckons he and his fiancé had been "shocked" and "humiliated" by the incident.
However, a spokesman for the promoter said today that the boxer had not made prior contact to book any seats, and because of that there was no room for him and his fiancé or friends at ringside. They added that if Reid had been alone, there would have been no problem.
On a separate issue, Reid claims he has had a five-year dispute with Warren over a £5,000 shortfall in money owed following his WBO title fight with Joe Calzaghe.
Warren, however, says that the £5,000 sum was outside the boxer's purse for the fight and in the form of a wager, and that was only payable if Reid had won.

he should ahve tried the old "dont you know who i am" line. im led to beleive jimmy hill (he's a poof) used it at wimbledon the other day, and still got a ko from the doorman, despite having a ticket in his pocket.
"Humulitated"? from a guy with Reids 'sideline'?
Sounds like Reid fancies himself as a bit of a big shot player these days on the back of his win over McGee an hes letting uncle frank know who the boss is!! haha yeah right you are Robin.
Be interesting to see how "shocked" and "humiliated" he is when he realise that despite his magnificent IBO belt his career is still going nowhere.

After the shock and humiliation of being treated like any bloke not having a ticket, brave Sir Robin could've always taken his financier (yes, I watched Young Frankenstein last night ;)) back to his place and watched some nasty pornos, erm, I mean, home movies of his amateur career.

Sounds like handbags at dawn, I have to say, this all makes Reid look like a bit of a wanker. Big deal mate, you didn't get into a boxing match, what a shame. He should be able to afford to buy a ticket.

Robin Reid's trainer has blasted Sky-TV boxing over their criticism of the Runcorn fighter during and after his victory over Brian Magee in the Irishman's home city.
Brian Hughes was furious at the stick given out by commentators and pundits as Reid ended Magee's unbeaten record.
Reid's desire was continually questioned but an irate Hughes said if anyone should have been criticised it was Magee, who he accused of persistent and blatant use of the head.
Hughes' argued the Sky team had not given Reid due credit for a gutsy and calculated effort.
He said: 'I have not yet seen the tape but from what I've been told, Jim Watt, Barry McGuigan and (commentator) Ian Darke were giving Robbie some terrible stick.
'When Watt and McGuigan were boxing there were only two commentators around and I remember it vividly, they hated it whenever Harry Carpenter or Reg Gutteridge said anything that wasn't what they wanted during a fight.
'Now they are sitting there, getting well paid and not doing any training or worrying at all. What they've not taken into consideration is that Robbie is 33-years-old and was out there in a very hostile environment.
'Robbie was boxing an unbeaten champion and knocked him down four times. He was butted throughout the fight more blatantly than I have ever seen and three independent judges have voted for Robbie - in Ireland.
'It wasn't a classic fight for the public to watch but it was one in which you always felt something was going to happen.
'Robbie had to dig into the trenches and come up to get the result he needed. Never did I feel he had lost the fight.
'All the people in Runcorn can be proud - he has has brought a lot of glory to the town and is proud of where he is from.'

Perhaps this is what is the cause of the problem is then, rather than not being allowed on the show.
Every fighter endures criticism in their career, and it wasn't a pretty sight to watch. Magee was very untidy with the head though.

I agree with Hughes. Watt kept on and on about what Reid was doing wrong etc yet seemed oblivious to the fact that Magee was doing naff all himself and he was supposed to be the champ!. Magees performance was little short of pathetic and his use of the head was blatant.
Watt's comment that there was nothing wrong with Magees chin sometime after Magee had been floored for the 4th time during the fight had to be the highlight of the night for me!!!........

Watt is the prime tosser on Sports TV
He is so blatant in his bias that it is almost laughable. Magee fought a very poor fight apart from with his head. He was so obvious with it, I thought they were going to change his name to Evander

The 4th knockdown was a pretty untidy one mind, I think it was the third, or was it the second one which was really heavy, yeah the third.

What annoys me is the way he shouts all the time, but doesn't seem to have anything particularly interesting to say. All he seems to do is repeat himself over and over, and even then he's just stating the obvious.

I belive the truth is Reid turned up at the rear gate of the MEN and demanded free entry for him and his pals. MEN security said no and he became a big time charlie and got abusive and threatening , he even threatened to kick a womans head in - class act! Did he buy a ticket - No!
Warren knew nothing of this incident whatsoever and the security took the decision to fornicate Reid off for his pathetic behaviour. embarrassed? He should have been and after watching him fight Magee he's lucky the bird didn't set about him. fight Magee? - now that was embarrassing for him!
Also, one would think with his sideline he would at least know what a low blow was!
As for Warren, Michael Brodie was accomadated because he had the decency to ask and not expect.
Seems Reid has forgotten his manners and as well as how to fight.

The question here is what entitles Reid, his bird and their mates to free tickets.
Pleanty of hard working people pay for their seats, why should Reid be any different?
I make Warren absolutely right to refuse him entry.
