I wasn't so impressed with the ring entrance as I was with the fight. Vinny Paz is a warrior but Roy showed great ring generalship and a great jab.

Plus that's the fight of The Shrug... "Oh, you want me to beat the hell out of you a bit more? No problem..." I was no fan of his rap tracks, but Roy really had it goin' on in his day.

Pazienza was one of my all time favorites. He had no business at Super Middleweight late in his career. This fight was tough to watch for me but Roy Jones Jr really was the best fighter i've witnessed in my lifetime. No one ever finished off a guy better than Roy.

If was incredible that Paz came back from the awful car crash, he was a very good fighter and a real personality.

At 168, Jones was almost godlike - it's a shame he didn't stay there longer really, as he was much better at 168 than 175. though not exactly a slouch at 175 either.

I completely agree with Baby Face.
Usman, and it isn't even close.
But, here are a few honorable mentions:
Corey

Sharif

Mike

And no talk about ringwalks would be complete without these two
Naseem

and of course, Roy- but I think this one was better than the one in the OP

Every great fighter has a window of dominance in an era. Though Roy's window shut faster than most of the other P4P Kings of the past, his reign was incredible to watch. Sometimes he'd knock them out with a lengthy shoeshine in the corner or with a specialty wind up punch for good measure. He was dynamic.
Similar to Floyd, Roy was so good that he was bigger than the sport for awhile and had 100% control of his affairs. He didn't have to answer to anyone. It proved to be Roy's downfall in the end as it does with 99% of boxers that go it alone. That's what makes Floyd's run so impressive as much as i hate to admit it. Even with almost full control of his matters, he's yet to step in it. It's pretty rare that this guy hasn't let his control get in the way of the final product on fight night. That's probably the most impressive part about Floyd's run to me.

I dont think I've ever got over the Usman Ahmed ring walk and near decapitation, it made me reconsider how I walk down the street, I had to drop some of the swagger.

I think Roy's mistake was his career post Ruiz, but he'd kind of screwed himself, what was he going to do, stay at heavyweight - not really, because someone would have kicked his ass, Ruiz was slow, not a big hitter, and immobile, the perfect target really - there were plenty of heavyweights who would have beaten the shit out of Jones, and he knew it. However, Roy clearly did some sort of permanent damage to himself in the manner of the rapid weight loss he put himself through in order to get back down to 175 in quick order. I remember the commentators remarking how old Jones looked when he walked in the ring - it was like he had aged 10 years overnight. He was never the same again.
Imagine how we would talk about Roy had he either retired straight after Ruiz, or made weight sensibly, and had another 4-5 title wins at 175. I suspect he would always have carried on too long, but it could have been different. I guess Roy's ego got in the way.
Mayweather has always had the sense to know his limits, he had one fight at 154, and that against a guy who was past it and was not a true 154 lb fighter, then moved back down to WW - and resisted the urge to go looking for more baubles at higher weights.
Whilst I'm no great fan of Mayweather's style or persona (constructed or otherwise) - he's the shrewdest operator I've ever seen in boxing.

It has to be Usman, he even managed to change his gloves from black to red somewhere between the ring apron and getting through the ropes. Pure genius.

This has to be the best ring-walk ever. Manny Stewart said Vitali was the most imposing HW champ ever. I bet Sam Peter was shitting himself.

Pazienza really hit the juice hard after that car crash and used the roids to help his body recover and also move up in weight as he aged. But obviously he was gonna be no match for Prime Jones, who when you watch him it's hard to imagine any fighter in the history of the sport beating him at his peak. He was...insane.

Naz was the king of the ring walk.
They love a good ring walk in Russia.
Povetkins last fight he had a 10 minute intro then knocked Perez out in. 90 seconds.
