Congratulations to MGM Scotland on what was a fantastic show last night, Sam Kynock done a great show and what an atmosphere.

First fight Tommy phillibin against Mitch Mitchell was electric with Tommy showing a range of punches and didn't look like a debutant, 40-36

Second fight Brian Forsyth against Luke Allan, Forsyth was fortunate to get the draw against an impressive counter puncher, in pros scoring a bit different and Allan was landing cleaner shots but he will come back hopefully, 39-39 draw

3rd fight Lee Redpath v Ibar Ryaz, Redpath controlled 3 rounds comfortable but was visibly tired in the 4th and Riyaz applied pressure and landed some big right hands but Redpath got through quite comfortable. 40-36

Stephen Tiffney against someone I hadn't seen before but he stole the show, his work rate was incredible where he didn't allow his opponent in the fight, landed countless body shots eventually stopping his opponent in the first round, this boy is going to be a monster at feather weight having done super feather on day weigh in and his support was massive, look forward to next fight.

John Thain v Lewis Van Poetch- a boxing lesson handed out, is there a more slick boxer in Scotland? Looks so effortless, bloodied up his opponent very early on landed countless jabs and banging in body shots, lacks that power to stop his opponent but hopefully he will keep developing power as he can be a force of moving down to welter . 40-36

David Brophy v Nick Blackwell- best I'v seen of Brophy. His jab is bang on the money every time and doesn't waste many shots, sometimes got caught but starting to see what billy is talking about, he's a fit guy and his pace never relented in the 6 rounds. 60-54

Lewis Benson v Kris Laight- not often you can say anyone looks good against Laight but at times it looked like he was gonna take him out, chased him whole 4 rounds trying to land clean but not many people manage to figure him out, comfortable points win .40-35

Stephen Simmons v Jari Svacina- unfortunately bit of a let down, the boy Simmons fought looked like he had never boxed before , Simmons bad a pipe band play him in and out of the ring and comfortably won on points and hopefully will look better against better oppononts.

Apart from the draw, those scores make you wonder how competitive the match making was.

Debut fights were all learning and good enough match making. Simmons fight and Thain could have been given a harder test. Also it's there first show in Edinburgh and gives them a grasp of what to expect. They done an excellent show in my opinion and can move on to bigger and better things

Is it not about time that Brophy's standard of opponent improved a bit? He has had 15 fights now, how is fighting journeymen with such poor records helping him develop?

To be fair every time I'v seen him I'v never rated him, thought he was very basic, didn't put his s shots together well and lived off being Ricky's best mate, but last night I was very impressed, not greatest opposition but in general his variety of shots and fitness along with a bit of power he had showed me something he's been working on, am I totally sold on him like billy is? No, but do I think he's ready to step up and take on tests , definitely and he will do himself justice

Good to see him get a KO under his belt

Match making was poor however good night of boxing,I agree both Thain and Brophy are fringe British Title level and both need a step up in class,just going through the motions wont bring them on as a "live" opponent would have,although impressed with the set up and can only be good for Scottish boxing with the MGM backing .
