WTF at those McDonnell/Kameda scores?

Almost seemed like they read the right scores but announced the wrong guy as the winner. Even with the 12th round knockdown I don't think McDonnell came even close to winning. Utterly ludicrous scoring.

You should check out the RBR thread in the British section because most are saying WTF at people having Kameda winning......interesting how views can be so different.
I had it 115-112 McD. Kameda switched off too often and wasn't landing with enough quality to compensate for McDonnell's more frequent connects--which were largely a product of his greater activity.

I had it 115-112 for Kameda. I guess it was just one of those fights that are difficult to score. Though I had no dog in this fight, I think people see what they want to see.

It was a technical fight and McDonnell looked the one in control, in reality there was nothing in it but nowadays especially in the uk non punchers are learning to plan out a 12 rounder and box to orders and actually "nick it"

I scored it 114-113 Mcdonnell.
Flash knockdown in the 12th gave the win to JM.
Good fight, way better than garbage main event.

Scores are all over the place for this fight, seen people whose opinion I respect with scorecards that looked terrible to me, thought it was a really close fight that could have gone either way, anything more than 3 or 4 rounds in favour of either fighter is way out IMO.

At that level its about what you like, In a razor thin fight a guy can still win every round and it will still be controversial

Had it 117-111 McDonnel. Closest I could see it was 114-11 McDonnell. Cannot understand Kameda winner

Kameda won the fight. I had it 115-112 in his favor. McDonnell was busier, but landed significantly less punches. Kameda's punches also had more pop on them.
I'm sure the punch stats would reflect that Kameda landed more. McDonnell won the fight on ineffective aggression I guess in the opinion of most.

I had it a point wider than you; I agree with your analysis.

People have to remember its pro boxing... While jabbing air makes you look very busy, it's not effective aggression

The fight wasn't even close, I can't see there being any argument that kameda won. Even he knew he had lost.

No he thought he won. He said so. There should probably be a poll attached to this thread. To see how divided we are on the outcome.

Shows how differently two people can see a fight, I can't see any way that McDonnell dominated that fight, he walked forward and threw a lot of jabs and powder puff punches, but there wasn't a lot landing clean and the rounds I gave him were mostly on workrate.

I had it something like 115-112 Kameda. It just seemed like all the clean shots were his. McDonnell got boxed up pretty bad in the first half of the fight. He came on a bit later but not enough, IMO.

Nothing landed he got hit with 5 clean jabs in a row at one point. He was dominated by the jab and straight right through most of the fight and barely landed.
I'd be interested in seeing the compubox stats.

I thought McDonnell had his fair share of big shots too,its easier to remember Kameda's big shots because it was all he really did,Jamie landed as many big shots as him and added more, also i know no one was hurt but Kameda backed off a few times when hit,McDonnell never

Most of the jabs were either blocked or missed, those that did land reminded me of the old amateur point scoring system, touching the opponent with the jab rather than snapping their head back with it. Walking forward and missing shouldn't win rounds IMO, McDonnell is living a charmed life with decisions, been on the right end of 5 or 6 close ones in a row, Chacon was well in the fight before his shoulder popped out too.
I haven't seen the punch stats yet but someone in the US said on CHB that they massively favoured Kameda.

Not sure what fight most of the people who thought Kameda won were watching. Maybe they lost money? He won 2 of the first 3 for me but then was largely out worked. McDonnell's shots might have been generally a bit pitter-patter but at least he was throwing and landing unlike Kameda who seemed intent on landing one big shot at a time and regularly missed by the proverbial mile, looking off balance and amateurish at times. He also looks to be lazy which probably cost him several rounds. I thought Kameda looked a bit dejected after the 10th and his corner certainly seemed to know he needed something big at the start of the 12th.....a round he lost with a knockdown to boot. The PBC international commentary team had McDonnell 11 rounds up at the end which was too wide but at least they knew who the winner was.
