As a 30 something year old man who's been out of combat sports with various injuries, I still entertain the idea of getting back in the gym and fighting again. If only I had the platform Haye has, and if only I'd have achieved what Haye had achieved in the past. But truth be told, I'm a good couple of pounds over my fighting weight, and I have the fear (as I'm sure Haye does) that younger lads who'd I have bashed in my youth will wipe the floor with me now... There doesn't seem to be any point. I understand why he's saying this, but he's done. If he comes back, it's as a stepping stone and we'll all want him to lose. He has squandered any good will.

There was a time, after Calzaghe and Hatton, when it was all Froch and Haye with British fans, with Haye probably bringing the most support. Froch did everything asked of him, win or lose, and will be remembered much more fondly despite Haye's world titles in two different weight classes. Haye took the piss. His time is gone. He blew it. At this stage, if he fought Dillian Whyte, Let alone Fury or Joshua, I'd be supporting Dillian. I say this as somebody who supported Haye from his Cruiser weight days. Does anybody disagree?

I think Haye just likes to see his name in the headlines.
He is past his expiration date and becoming a joke with these announcements

Gawd, not again. If he shouts out AJ enough after tonights win this could be a great victory for AJ, very good name on his record. Fully fit and fight active Haye would certainly be no push over however for a pocket full of dough and a dencent work out im sure AJ could beat Haye inside 4 or 5 rounds. Ill think about this more tonight if we see Haye around the arena or commentating for a tv/radio channel.

Agree and he was a disgrace against Wlad and afterwards.

Anyone signing up to fight him again should ensure they have an advance on their purse.

Then again does he really mean it this time. He has been saying this for the past 18 months. Even if. He comes back he looks like he has out on a fair bit of weight and will probably not have Adam Booth in his corner.

I suspect that journalists make contact with Haye in the run up to notable heavyweight matches and ask for his opinions. Towards the end of interviews it's quite normal for the subject to be asked about their own projects and aspirations. When the question is posed "What about you, David, any chance of a comeback?" what's he going to say?

Yeah he definitely likes to try and keep himself relevant! If he's going to do it then he should just get on with it and stop all these stupid fanny farting announcements!

He's probably worried that journalists stop contacting him if he says "no, I am no longer relevant".

No one is going to sign to box him, no one is going to buy tickets because of his previous antics.
He's too old now, he's too fat and his speed, agility and stamina will never be the same because he's been out too long and has gotten older the wrong way.

I'm pleased he is coming back.

My concern is that he relies a lot on speed and reflexes to compete at heavy, which are attributes that fade with age.

Hence, bigger and slower heavies often fight until a ripe old age nowadays.

I like Haye as a fighter, but as person... well I don't like his public persona for sure. Still think he gave Wlad one of his more perilous fights, though. It was the pathetic pre and post-fight shenanigans which destroyed his reputation.

I reckon he's got one more roll of the dice left. Why not roll it?

how the heck do you know that mate? Come on. The man was fit as a fiddle getting chased around the ring by Wladimir, what, 3 years ago? You make it sound like he's been gone and on the ale for the past 5 years.
