Who'd win this fight?I'd go with Pryor by KO,he could hit hard for his size 40 fights 35 KOs ......

Pryor easily. He'd have way to much for Mayweather at 140. Floyd would be gunshy against him and get outworked if he didn't get stopped.

At light-Welter weight I have to go with Aaron Pryor. I don't think Mayweather could cope with The Hawks relentless pressure, high workrate and strength over 12/15 rounds.

In his prime Pryor was a truely relentless fighting machine, Mayweather is a multy talented fighter but could not cope with a prime Pryor at 140lbs,

Pryor by wide points or even a late stoppage.

Pryor would hunt him down, and once he catches up to Pretty Boy's blown up lightweight frame he would never let go. Mid round TKO

This one's unanimous. The Hawk was just too busy. Floyd has a tendency to cover up and box his way out of trouble when an opponent presses. That would just encourage Pryor. Mayweather's only chance is to catch Pryor being careless.

..pryor should rate high in the list of most overrated fighters, but he'd walk through mayweather and probably stop him.

Agreed with all above. Pryor would swarm Mayweather and stop him 7-8 rounds. I have trouble picturing anyone in history at 140 lbs or below (Roberto Duran included) beating a prime Aaron Pryor. He was something else in his day.

Maywheather was stunned by Chop Chop. Pryor would eat him up in a real entertaining fight. Maywheather would make it competetive while it lasted.

Count one more vote for Pryor.
The better match--mentioned above and on another thread as well--is Pryor-Duran. I have to respectfully disagree with Alister's implication that this one is an easy call; Pryor might very well win it, but I suspect that it would be a hell of a fight that could go either way.

Another vote for Pryor.

About Pryor-Duran, I tend to lean in favour of Duran... but undoubtedly it would have been a hell of a fight!!!

How was Pryor overrated?39-1 35 kos with two KO wins over Arguello who was definitely no bum i have to disagree also he with his power he was fun to watch

Just about the most entertaining fighter ever perhaps. I don't think this would be competitive, as someone mentioned above Corely had Floyd stunned for a second. When Pryor stuns Mayweather (which he would) he will end it. One of the best finishers ever.

...i should have said pryor would walk through mayweather and let it go at that, without adding the overrated part. he was...but i have said all i have to say on pryor in a thread a long time ago and promised myself i'd add no more to it, for reason i won't get into here.

I should have said that you--jaclem: what the hell does jaclem mean?--where the author of the other thread to which I was refering earlier. But for the sake of readers of this thread, what do you think of Duran-Pryor? At 140, I do think Pryor had the speed & power to make it a toss-up (no way, IMHO, coud he have sweated his way down to 135 and still beaten a prime Duran), but what do you think?

duran.

purely hypothetical. the best fight would have been between pryor and the ten men it would take to get him into the ring.

what kind of last name is 1030?

Aw come on, that's a little harsh, don't you think? Well, maybe not...

It's an easy one to to remember, once I'd signed up for my first free Hotmail (or was it Yahoo?) account a dozen years or so ago. Apparently, I was the 1030th guy named Dan to sign up--not terribly interesting, I'll grant you, but impossible to forget now that I've spent about a decade using the same name and password for all my low-prioity net-IDs. Of course, I mean "low-priorty" in the sense of "not connected to a bank account, etc." obviously, nothing is of higher intrisic priority than B.S.ing online about boxing :TU:

I to lean towards Duran, I love watching both these guys fight but feel it's easier to imagine Duran hurting Pryor that the other way around. I would be a great fight but I feel the greater skill and defence of Duran at 140lbs would alow him to weather Pryor assaults and counter punch his way to a points victory.

okay dan....now i suppose i should explain JACLEM. it was a name assigned to me back in my science fiction fan days by an editor of fanzine that i wrote a column for.....and is still pops up from time to time on fandom sites.

yeah..maybe too harsh. five guys could do it it...but i wouldn't like to be one of them.

Interesting perspectives from a few years back.

I'd still go with the consensus from back in 2004 and pick Pryor by UD. Floyd at 140 was still not all that far removed from his fights with JLC, and Aaron Pryor was a swarmer similar to JLC except he was significantly faster and quicker on his feet.

Floyd would be able to make adjustments and take his share of rounds, but I think Aaron's aggression and frenetic workrate would be too much for Floyd.

I agree with that pick.
