Big one now! Erkan Teper Dec. 19th. Teper just KO'd David Price in round two, and he is ranked #1 in Germany and #8 in the world.

That's a nice match, I'm excited about this match as well, I think Helenius will win, but I expect the bookies to give Teper the odds.

Excellent matchup! Teper deserves to start as favourite, but this could be a brutal fight - two big guys with big punches and not much defense. Helenius has a strong chin, I haven't seen enough of Teper's to make a judgement.

Good fight this, should be entertaining for as long as it lasts.

Will he be fighting with that beard? That's a bit much.

He better win. He is mine in the Undefeated Heavyweight Sweepstake, and winning that is extremely important to me.

Excellent fight to see if Helenius still has it. Pre injury he was second only to Wlad in my opinion. He's been a lot more vulnerable after the serious injuries and time off. If he beats Teper he's back to top five. If he loses, it's pretty tragic to have had his career derailed by injury and unscrupulous promoters.

was it injuries that made him not fight very well when he lost to Chisora , or was it an off night ?

Two serious injuries that required surgery (shoulder) and time off (hand). He was a one armed fighter against Chisora.

I agree.

Watching him training I've been saying I expect him to go right to the top again, but I didn't really expect a fight of this magnitude so soon. I thought that the "unscrupulous promoters" would block it...and I would have preferred him to fight some middle level guy first. Teper is a very tough customer, big jump from the two that he just fought, and he's only fought less than four rounds in the last two and a half years. Well, I hope he pulls it off!

Chisora battered him that night. That decision was a disgrace. It was beyond incompetent, corrupt more like.

Some day Chisora can brag to his grandchildren that he got robbed against a one armed power puncher who didn't have the use of his power hand. That is if he can stop assaulting women long enough to have children and grandchildren.

I wouldn't mind seeing Helenius fight Chisora again. With two arms he stops Del Boy easily.

He definitely used two hands in the chisora fight and showed no sign of any injury he was simply out fought by the better fighter. Don't think there was a single person who didn't believe Del boy won the fight.

Yes, yes he did show signs of injury, and had surgery following. I'd say Chisora was lucky, but seeing as how his "moral victory" over the injured Helenius led to him getting his ass kicked by every good fighter he went on to face, I'm not sure how lucky it really was.

Healthy Helenius KO 7.

Be interesting to see how this fight goes. Regardless of the injury, Chisora was swarming all over Helenius which is how Teper will likely fight him, on the inside.

Helenius was really heavy in his last fight, would like to see him back down around 240lbs.

I expect if Teper doesn't stop him Helenius will be given a decision at home. Could be a war if they both come out swinging, how good are their chins, never seen either rocked but not sure if anyone with reall power has landed on them. Price certainly didn't land anything on Teper before being sparked again. Did Duhaupas land anything during their fight??

The next 2 or 3 months are really nice for the boxingworld, there are quite a lot of close/hard to predict matches.
This fight is one of them.

great matchup

Helenius gets one last chance for super stardom

during his early career i was one of those who thought he had real potential.

erkan teper is a lot more of a world threat than people think.

naturally i live in a utopian fantasy world where boxers fight much more regularly....but i guess we'll just have to wait until december for this clash

i have to pick Teper to win this but if Helenius dosnt retreat into an audley shell....he might just pull off a good performance

as for the hipster beard? obviously i consider them absurd...but if he's going down the whole nordic / viking image thing ...then thats actually acceptable.

WAR , people :box:

In kickboxing they have tournaments, they just start with 32 fighters, let them fight to 16, 8, 4, 2, 1.
The only dumb thing they do is that they do all of it in about two to three days, so sometimes the kickboxers are still tired or even injured from their last fight. That's why you never see a kickboxer with a 100% clean record, unlike in boxing.

I think such a tournament thing should happen in boxing as well every 5 year or so, with a match about once every month, just in case with a protection of the top 16 or so and match them up with 16 tournamentwinners.
That way, even guys like Shannon Briggs can easely approach the top if they really are as good as they think they are and that way it doesn't take you like at least three years before you finally can approach the top fighters.

This is actually something rare...an interesting and relative huge non-title fight in the heavyweight division.

Hope we get to see this over here.

When I mentioned the beard I was thinking he shouldn't be allowed to wear it in the ring. Used to be fighters had to be clean-shaven so they couldn't rub whiskers into a cut or cushion a blow. Helenius in that photo has a huge beard. Looks great, but not in the ring. Too bad he was off so long and stymied by crooked promoters. Another waste of talent, although a lot of the top 20 or so seem to be in their thirties. Time was, back in the day, when heavyweights were considered over-the-hill by 33 or 34.

Gerald Washington - Amir Mansour

Is another one ;)!
I expect Gerald Washington to win, but it will certainly be his thoughest opponend yet.

I've seen quite a few boxers with beards lately. Like you say, they didn't used to allow it, but they seem to be letting them now. If I was still boxing I'd grow a big mountain man beard plus let my curly hair get as long as I could. I'd be like invulnerable!

Unfortunately for you we have a thing called 'Youtube' where we can watch fights again. Helenius clearly not troubled in punching with both arms, he just got dominated by a guy who could take his power and put him under pressure.

Helenius is a straightforward win for any decent natural heavy.
