Anyone see ringside?

They showed the Muyas fight and Darke and Watt were talking him up big time and it was the same back in the Studio. (jonny Nelson et al). Dean's head probably won't fit through double doors this morning.

It was fantastic exposure. They are expecting him to change the shape of the lightweight division.

Dean did look great, although he hit the Lanky Muyas with what looked like his best shots with the left hand, and the guy did not get badly rocked. I'd like to know how Dean feels about that. The guy was durable, but you always feel these lanky, skinny legged type will go down easily.

I didn't like how easy Dean was a times to hit (as noted by the commentators), but offensively he showed a good variety and fantastic workrate.

Good display, wouldn't call it a great display but still very early in his comeback and I think he could beat Bennett.

I wonder whether the exposure has is a direct response to him being regular poster.

Gave him a bit of a pasting. Muya is too tough for his own good.

To be honest hes not gonna be the saviour of brit boxing.His attacks are one paced,one dimentional and no imagination,I dont think he threw a 4 punch combo in the whole fight,nothing educated or clever.Defencively very weak,imagine what someone like Vanzie would do with him never mind the Mayweathers etc.Not a star in the making for me.

I'll defend Dean, seeing as he's not here to defend himself. Looking at the domestic lightweight division, i'd give him a shot with anyone apart from Cook, who i think would take a comfortable points win.

IMO, if Vanzie doesn't fight Earl next time out he'll be dangerously undermotivated as well as maybe being a little rusty. If the fight was to go longer than 5 or 6 rounds i could see Vanzie becoming frustrated very quickly. Yes, Vanzie would be a heavy favourite, but i don't think the result would be a forgone conclusion.

With regards to Bennett and Earl, they're solid domestic operators and nothing more. Again Dean would be the underdog, but i think (from what i've seen during this comeback) that he'd beat Bennett, and run Earl close.

It'd be an interesting fight with Steve Murray, because, IMO, Murray and Dean are at the same sort of level. They have it in them to, at the very least, be competitive at British level, but whether they can win the British title and defend it is another matter. I think that Murray's fight with Earl will be a fairly decent barometer for how Dean would do against Earl.

I have to agree with some of your post though. Dean isn't going to be the saviour of British boxing, nor is he going to be a major star. But as i've said above, i don't think there's much to choose between the domestic lightweights.

whatever usay bout dean uknow ur gonna get a good fight - hes v.good 2 watch and id favour him over bennet which should be happening i think....

Bennet would out box him.You picked out 5/6 people there and said that Dean would start an underdog against all of them and he would be, therefore validating what i'm saying that he'll only make British level. Got to agree Deans always in good, tough, honest fights but fights with Shepard, Murray, Earl are all good fights but no more.

I had bad swelling on both my hands from about the 5th onwards, and as a result was actually holding quite a bit back on power for fear of damaging my hands further. I felt that, had my hands been fine, I could have forced a stoppage.

Good ring generalship, Dean. Cut him off well and picking shots very nicely. Muya is a tough bloke so there's no harm not stopping him. Getting rounds under your belt just now is a plus, especially for a Bennet fight.

The best bit about the studio conversation was when Dempsey said Dean is the most educated to boxer to come out of Wales as he has a HND in Computing.

Piper gets all defensive and points out he too has a HND, and got a Distinction...although he didn't know what Dean got so couldn't confirm who was the most educated.

Made me laugh anyway.

Nicky Piper has a big head, both literally and metaphorically speaking. They used to always go on about how he was a member of MENSA when he was a fighter.

I hate elitist organisations like MENSA, and i also hate people who brag about being members. I knew this kid at school who finished every arguement with "Yeah, well i'm a member of MENSA". He was a right knob. Nicky Piper.......being a member didn't stop him from being a shit fighter and an even worse pundit. Pretentious tosser.


Anyway his IQ is right at the lower end of the MENSA spectrum, i mean 140odd is not much to brag about is it. It's like saying "I drive a Rover" or "My penis is six inches long".

Most IQ tests have a sociological bias also. The maths questions are the only ones that are truely universal.

I've seen questions where there are anagrams you have to re-arrange to make the names of famous classical composers.

...but if you're not into classical music how would you know any composers names anyway?

If you had to re-arrange to form indie pop bands, many people would do better. It's the same "task" mentally, just with a different taste in music involved...and your taste in music doesn't reflect your intelligence eh.

Most of the MENSA problems i've seen have been pretty simple, just a matter of either logical or lateral thinking.

As for these IQ tests load of bollox in my opinion.
Intelligence is deciphered by how people act think and talk not by some poxy test.

I've met some exceedingly dim people that listen to all kinds of classical music, and some extremely bright people who.. for them... Marilyn Manson, Rammstein & Korn are more their thing.

It's equal to comparing peoples intelligence according to whether they eat cornflakes or shreddies for breakfast...

I'm just messing loftgroov. It's a bit of a shame that some people actually believe that classical music make you more intelligent, while anyone who listens to dance music is automatically as thick as two short planks.

As for me, my tastes are much more eclectic. The Cure, The Jam, Stone Roses, Blondie, Morrisey, Bach, Prince, Daft Punk, Modest Mouse, REM, Nas, Puccini, Otis Reading, The Eels, Dylan, The Kinks, i won't go any further but it's safe to say i don't think that too much can be read into what a person listens to.
