Thank you for your correspondence about Boxing on the BBC.

It isn't true that we have stopped broadcasting Boxing on BBC TV but
what we have had to do is reduce our commitments following a review
we've just conducted of our strategic priorities, which drive both
funding and the demand for slots in the television schedule.BBC Sport
has a wonderful array of sports to offer the viewers but not every sport
can find equal prominence on the networks.

Over the next few months however we will continue to follow the progress
of David Haye, who is a very exciting young talent and his next fight on
the BBC will be in early September. And on the amateur front we'll be
carrying even more coverage. Boxing at the Athens Olympics and from the
2006 Commonwealth Games will feature and we'll also continue to show
coverage of the ABA Finals and the 4-Nations event.

In addition to regular coverage on Radio 5 Live and our extensive Boxing
online site, this is still a strong commitment to the sport.

I had exactly the same response from the BBC so it's obviously a standard letter being sent out.

No mention of Carl Froch in there.

alrite son! Thats cos Haye is gonna be the superstar that they thought Froch was gonna be!

Still aint made it for a beer dude, thats slack as seeing as your breathing the same office air!

The big concern was the way they said they'd be covering Haye for the next few months - what happens after that?

What do the public want to see? A winner like Haye or a pathetic c*nt like Tim Henman.

Surely even the Beeb can see they should stop wasting money on the likes of Timid Timothy and instead improve their boxing coverage.

Yep J we should sort that beer soon. Perhaps wait until the sun is shining a bit more and enjoy some of the summer delights in Covent Garden.

Haye is meant to be a prospect. He last fought in May and wont fight again until September.

Not good enough. Its obvious his promoter cant get enough TV dates from the BBC.

The reason they are showing haye is that he has four fights left on his contract. Once that is up he is a gonna with Happy Micky and his maulers.
They are gonna stick with amateur boxing.

Far as I'm concerned the BBC can stick their 'commitment to boxing' up their flabby backsides because thats what their commitments worth!!!.... it's outrageous the way they have dumped boxing.... giving in to the constant snipes of a certain bleary eyed promoter who dominates SKY!.
The only positive from all this is I won't have to put up with the blabberings of Bunce anymore! YIPEEEEE!!!....

Thinking about re-writing to five, I've noticed they are starting to cut rounds from the fnf shows. I can understand for when its on after live baseball, but for highlights of LAST YEARS X games

Let's face it, boxing on the Been is dead. I have had some information recently which confirms that this is the most likely outcome. This could well be the last year of any significant boxing coverage on the BBC for some time, with the way the sport is heading, we may have seen the last of boxing on the BBC for good.
