Just saw Nonito Donaire say he's missed out on the Quigg fight as he's fighting Mcdonnell.

When asked about Frampton he said it looks like Wake.

What's everyone think? Gutted Nonito isn't coming to the Uk but both are good fights.

I'm gutted that McDonnell is moving up. I'd have loved to see him face Payano and (assuming he won) try for the Yamanaka fight before moving up.

Me too I was made up when I thought Quigg v Donaire was happening at the MEN. Instead looks like he will be meeting another blown up bantamweight.

I can see Hearn making McDonnell-Quigg PPV.

Same Jamie has a chance of becoming no 1 in a weight class something we have not had since Calzaghe.

I don't think McDonnell will have a problem with size at 122lbs, I think his frame will be fine there

Punching power will be a different matter.

However a box'n'move artist is the type who could give quigg- looking to set his feet and land power shots- quite a few problems

Good style matchup for McDonnell I m o if he can keep quigg continually resetting and peppering him with combinations and spinning off. I can see quigg spending a long time waiting to get punches off

The Japanese media said Frampton and Wake have until November 28th to agree a deal or they'll call purse bids, sounds like Wake's wanting to get himself to the US for the bout, which would likely suit everyone.

Except Frampton and McGuigan, seemed like the plan was for him to fight in Belfast next, hopefully Wake doesn't fornicate them about with that.

Surely this fight makes more sense in Ireland?

It's not the type of fight that would generate a buzz on a PBC undercard.

Depends on whether or not Haymon sees the chance to grow the Frampton brand from the fight, my guess is Wake's gone "neutral territory in the US would be nice..." to try and get some more money to go to Ireland but he did go over and watch Frampton Vs Gonzalez from ringside so may have got excited by being there for that one

I hope they don't overlook him. He looked great against Oguni.
I don't fancy him beating Frampton outside Japan though.

Looking at the dates the arena's available, if they want it before Christmas in Ireland then it's either November 21st or December 19th in Belfast. Other option would be Dublin on November 14th or 21st unless they put it on a Friday night. First of those dates in Dublin would be my preference personally but probably a bit too soon for it to happen then.

I was kinda hoping for McDonnell vs Yamanaka or the winner of Haskins v Caballero. Surely the long term goal is for Frampton to fight Quigg. Wake is the mandatory so Frampton will need to get that out the way first unless a deal can be arranged. Hearn could do a lot worse than bringing Gonazales over for Quigg as he gave Frampton nightmares. Would be a good move. I'd say Gonzales has the potential to cause an upset there though.

Does that mean he's allowed to bring a flock of sheep into town over the North Bridge? I hope he does that I'll take a photo.

But really it should be that Quiggs title is wiped off the face of the earth and he is named mandatory for Rigondeaux.

Didn't he say he wanted to clean up before moving up, maybe Eddie has thrown enough £ at him to make him switch plans.

As In understand it, Wake is the IBF's mandatory challenger. Frampton has already met his mando for this year (when he beat Avalos) and he has come out and said that he's taking a bit of a break he won't be fighting for the rest of 2015.
