Somebody better come up with some positives cause here's my list of negatives from a British point of view that have accumilated over the past few months:

James Toney - bad injury
Kostya Tszyu - bad injury
Vitali Klitschko - unconvincing vs Sanders
Vladimir Klitschko - ruined
Roy Jones Jr - KTFO
Mesi & Guinn - exposed
Audley - improving at a snails pace
Tyson - totally shot, fighting to pay off debts
Brodie - couldn't win the WBC title (not a criticism)
Arthur - Golden boy exposed
ESPN - reducing funding
BBC - phasing out boxing
Pac v Marquez - unsatisfactory draw
Calzaghe - IBF 175 shot down the toilet
Froch - not the fighter we wish he was
Hatton - crap opposition this year, Spad likely for autumn
De La Hoya - couldn't impress at middleweight, mega fight with BHop not so mega
Holyfield - still won't hang them up
Brian Magee - exposed
Nicky Booth - locked up, with god knows how many others appearing in the dock
Mundine & Green - both reputations tarnished
Farnell, Tak, Alexander, Moore all beaten
Still seeing shocking home town decisions, particularly on the continent


I could go on and on. Someone cheer me up sharpish with some positives.

I'll start with:

Trinidad v Mayorga Oct 2nd.

Hmmm...that's a depressing list.

How about -

Freitas v Corrales
PacMan v Marquez 2 or PacMan v Barrera 2


And maybe, just maybe, the long suffering Brit fans might get Harris over for Rickyboy.

David Haye - Future WBA/IBF/WBC world champion (?)

Amir Khan - Fantastic young amatuer boxing, will be at Athens, exciting future likely ahead of him.

Er... and thats it...more or less.

More negatives:

Winky Wright - stripped of 2 of his titles, Simms & Castillejo are shit replacements.
Eamonn Magee - brutalized when he was so close to a big fight
David Walker - failed on the Beeb
Damaen Kelly - failed on the Beeb
Clinton Woods - failed on the Beeb
Colin Lynes - blatant home town decision, not a good advert
Steve Roberts - failed comeback bid
Naz - can't seem to get it together to make a comeback
Bruno - described as a looney on a tabloid front page

He may as well just retire. His career has been effectively ruined through his own eccentricity & poor management.

The constant postponment of fights is getting tiresome. I have hardly been posting on here lately, and whilst that has much to do with a new job it also reflects on my current lack of interest that I just can't be bothered. I read the threads but really can't be arsed to type anything.

last year was called year of upsets - this year is the year of the no-shows i swear soooo many pullouts domestically and worldwide its doin ma head in.

Mickey mouse belts and sky calling them world titles like the WBF and WBu they are probably the worse out there.

Negatives -

No terrestial TV involvement.

No Heavyweights who can fight (we need it).

No amazing strength in depth in many of the devision.

No big domestic clashes occuring, not that many on the world scene.

The need for a headliner to be for any title.

No 3 judges in British title fights.

Not that much talent coming through - now the obese, PS 2, generation are reaching their teens, we could be in trouble.

Positives.

Amir Khan - looks impressive.

Fighting champions like DLH, Morales, Trinidad who are prepared to fight the best. Lets hope there are some more like that - The fabolous four (five = Benetez) saved boxing before Tyson took over, we need the same now.

Personally - two local clubs re-opening in the area.

I think the current feather/superfeather divisions are a big positive. There's the potential there for some really competitive matches between good fighters with decent sized followings. Any Pacquaio fight is going to attract an audience, but if he fights Barrera again or Morales then those fights could draw huge attendances, which is something that i think the sport needs right now. Add Chi, Harrison and a couple of others into the mix, then we've got some great fights down the line.

It is unbelievably annoying that there are SO MANY great fights out there and barely any are happening. Freitas/Corrales, Tito/Mayorga and DeLaHoya/Hopkins isn't enough in my opinion.
