Amir Khan expects February fight with Manny Pacquiao: ‘Contracts are being negotiated’

Amir Khan expects to fight Manny Pacquiao, in a battle of prominent former world champions, with the bout coming as soon as February and likely in Las Vegas, the British-Pakistani fighter says.

“I can confirm that my team has been negotiating with Bob Arum; so far everything is going smooth,” Khan told The National. “The contracts are being negotiated and, if everything is agreed, Manny Pacquiao will be my next opponent.”

“I have been told that Manny ... has been given the ‘all clear’ to start training again by his doctor, which is great news,” Khan said. “Depending on when he and his team feels he could be ready, the fight could be in February or April 2016.

“If, in the next couple of weeks, we get closer to confirming the fight, I will not be fighting again this year. This is a huge fight and I most definitely won’t be able to fight twice in the space of four months.”

“This is the biggest fight out there for me and I will be ready,” he said. “We have not gone into the specifics yet but it is a pay-per-view fight, it’s going to be global. It could be either on HBO or any other network, as I am a free agent.”

I hope that if this fight does come off. Pacquiao destroys Khan.
I hate Khan more than any other boxer.I don't even know why.

I don't necessarily hate kahn, but I was kind of hoping that he would never get a big fight. Seeing him constantly whining and thinking he deserves mayweather or Pac and then not getting them was entertaining.

I agree it made me laugh every time someone else got the big fight.

I love Brook and i'm disappointed to see Berto and Khan get the 2 big fights ahead of Kell but when Pac wins I hope Kell tells Khan to piss off and gets a fight with Pac, i'm very confident Kell would beat Pac.

Khan in the 7th round. But Khan gives Pac some early trouble before getting put to sleep.

I actually love this fight. I've watched several video's of these two sparring while under Roach and the action was fantastic. It was many years and battles ago but it must get personal for these guys finally being able to punch each other in the face without headgear after all of these years. I think if Khan doesn't get knocked out, he'll win on points. His work rate is much better than Pac's recently but all that it takes is one Ricky Hatton like left hand and the world will be right again with Khan on Bambi legs again.

I actually think Khan wins.

He has sparred prime Manny loads and his best performances are against southpaws. Collazo, Judah and Alexander.

Khans biggest weakness is a left hook from the orthodox stance hence another reason he is good against southpaws.

exactly ! khans been in with more world class fighters than any other active brit so cant really fault him.
