Saturday has been declared the official “Micky Ward Day” in New Hampshire, with Micky Ward set to celebrate his 50th birthday.

Ward, who fought three times in New Hampshire on his rise to the WBU Light Heavyweight championship, will be feted with proclamations from Governor Maggie Hassan, to be delivered by State Senate President Chuck Morse, and New Hampshire Boxing Commission Chairman Bobby Stephen, who will be seated at ringside.

“Honoring Micky Ward on his birthday is so special. Every boxing fan who has ever seen Micky in the ring knows just how special he is. This is yet another piece of the life of Micky Ward that in some way helps to complete a boxing career that was never void of a 100 percent effort. Micky fought on ESPN thirty-one times and I can honestly say that Saturday night will be very, very special and anyone who has ever had the privilege to be at one of Micky’s fights should be at The Rock to be part of a great tribute to a great man,” said boxing promoter Al Valenti.
