If title fights were limited to 10 x 3 minute rounds, how would it change professional boxing?.

Groves would still be shattered in the last round

Guys with stamina issues would stand a better chance at winning Championships. Body punchers and pressure fighters who's intent is to wear their opponent down would be at a disadvantage when it mattered most.

It'll seem weird at first, then it would normal.

I'd prefer all fights be 8 rounds. Make each round count more and less damage to the fighters.
Then one OT round if it's a draw.

Of course, that would require some sort of modern technology to run smoothly.
And ANYTHING modern has no place in boxing. Even safety equipment.

There would be even more imposters claiming to be world champions.

Personally, with advances in medicine and better knowledge of physiology and the effects of boxing, I am wondering why there is talk of going back to 15 rounds in championship fights.

We know so much more now, and can clearly protect fighters better.

15 rounds for unification fights would be good in fact it would be great? Unless of course it was Johnny Nelson vs De leon

I left out the "not" after "is".

I want to go back to 15 round title fights.
But I want closer scrutiny and more stoppages to one-sided fights.
I think that medically we are better able to handle 15 round fights now than we were in the past.
But only if we willing to actually use all the knowledge we have.

This is one of my major gripes about Boxing. Every single fight should be 12 rounds (15 would be even better). I don't care if it's some blue chipper's first fight or a non title fight fought in a VFW in town. No more of these 3 and 5 round fiasco's. If you sign up to be a professional fighter then everyone should have the same parameters. If you aren't ready to do 12 rounds then you shouldn't announce that your a pro.

This year alone, there have been so many great matchups on undercards that were shaping up to be great fights but instead gave me blue balls because they ended before it could get great. One particular fight that comes to mind was a recent Main Event of all things between Pascal and Gonzalez. The 9th and 10th rounds were amazing in that fight and with 2 more rounds, that fight was about to burst when it ended unceremoniously. Who schedules a main event on HBO at 10 rounds...a title eliminator fight on top of it. So dumb.

Regional title fights are often 10 rounders in this age of 12 round world title bouts. However, it seems to me that since they did away with 15 round fights there are a heck of a lot more 12 rounders than there used to be.

I don't see it as fighters proving themselves. You get in that ring, it is proof enough.

But, there are some fights I would have liked to see go 15 instead of 12.

We've had some close 12 round decisions that might have actually been settled one
way or another if those fights would have had an additional three rounds added to it.

What if DLH/Trinidad was 15 rounds? Castillo/Mayweather I? Froch/Dirrell?

And more recently what about Lomachenko/Salido? Quillen/Lee? Provodnikov/Algieri?

Does anyone think Alvarez would not have eventually walked down Lara in another 3 rounds?

I do understand the safety argument for 12 rounds and if it stays that way I wont complain.

But it would be nice to see some of the bigger fights settled more decisively.

I was being facetious. Of course it's proof enough that they get in the ring. That was the whole joke.

Is there potential for a lull in a fight for 15 rounds? In the sense that you pace yourself, of course you pace yourself for 10 or 12 rounds but I feel there will be some 'lazy' rounds in there. I'm not having a pop at the fighters as I would be hiding for 12 rounds if it were me but we all have limits. Another 3 rounds of Mayweather for instance would not inspire me.
