Allahkerdiev is not a ''journeyman''. He's a former title holder who dominated Joan Guzman.

That being said, he's been inactive for well over a year since his loss to Vargas, and Broner has Haymon behind him in his hometown. I'd love to see Allahkerdiev take it, but he would need a dominant decision or a stoppage. Smart money is on Broner, I believe.

I favor Broner too but I don't think the Maidna and Porter fights were remotely close.

Usually I root for the fellow American. Usually. If Broner loses again, I'll handle it quite well though.

I get he distinct impression many Americans feel this way.

Thing is, if Broner was just seen as a contender level fighter who has talent but perhaps not what is needed for that next level, I think people would accept him more as a young and brash guy who is good, but not thatgood. But then we always hear about his being a "three (and after tonight, possibly four) weight champion" and I think it bristles people, which I can understand.

I mean, if he was fighting on ESPN for the NABF title or whatever, it would just be entertaining. But it's a bit annoying that he's fighting for a fourth "world title" under the best possible conditions for him, when he's coming off a clear loss. I think that hurts our perception of him. I think it partially shows the damage that the cheapening of the titles can do.
