GGG-Lemieux a cruel PPV joke?

I think Mario Lemieux would give GGG a better fight. Whoever this promoter is, is a complete jagoff. This fight ain't worthy of no PPV. It should be on that free PBC. PBC is the greatest thing to happen to boxing in 30 years. GGG gonna decapitate this Frenchman

Kinda feel the same way.

I think this fight will come down to chins, and I don't think Lemiux's will hold up as well as GGG's.

I guess this is a fight they could make into a PPV. They should have done a better job building Lemiux as an opponent.

As someone who doesn't go gaga and get out my wallet simply because a certain fighter has a big name, I think this is one of the most value-filled cards there's been in a while, though I'm disappointed Ortiz-Vidondo is being televised while Maduma-Hooker apparently isn't.

Agree on the entertainment value of this card. I'll get Hls of the Maduma fight... if it's not televised, he'll send me the fight

I do share the OP's chagrin that this is a PPV fight. GGG spends the year fighting no-hopers and the first decent opponent he gets we have to pay $50 for? Lame.

It's a very good PPV with the GGG-Lemieux and Gonzalez-Viloria fights.

I just wish they would have found a decent opponent for Ortiz, then it would have been even better.

I don't think it's a particularly great PPV. Maybe it's decent for $50 (which counts as a budget price these days) but it's not like the Floyd/Canelo card that had 2 huge can't-miss fights on it. Gonzalez/Viloria will entertain while it lasts but Gonzalez is a -1400 favorite for a reason.

Really? At least GGG-Lemieux should be dramatic. Just about every Mayweather fight is a complete PPV joke, in terms of excitement. I'm fairly sure not a lot of households say after paying $80 to watch yet another safety first fight: "wow. I really got value for money for that. Great fight. I can't wait to pay 80 bucks again to watch Floyd win by decision."

Some people seem to be more willing to pay for big names than exciting fights. I suspect that this card will provide more entertainment than most boxing PPVs over the last few years.

I'm sure the 2 top fights will provide entertainment, but considering the amount of boxing and MMA that's on free TV, I am really only willing to spend $60+ if there are multiple "big" fights on the card. Especially when I can watch the replay for free a week later.

Good point, I guess a lot of people get dragged into the hype and end up buying it. I only bought one Mayweather PPV which was Canelo. I knew his fights were crap so never booked it. (Unless the DeLAHoya fight was PPV in UK, I saw that.)

It's not a bad card for die hard fans, but seriously doubt whether enough "casuals" will be willing to add 50 plus bucks to their already overpriced cable/satellite bills in order to make the PPV a success. IMO, it's just too soon for GGG's people/HBO to expect folks to pay extra $$$ outside of their HBO fee to see him fight.
Yeah, it may turn out to be a bit of a war for as long as it lasts. Which would be cool to see. But, it may also turn out to be a very brief, one-sided blow out win for GGG.

Gtfo here.... what's Haymon's next trick.... Stevenson vs a bus driver and Thurman vs another gerriatric?

The sooner this PBC nonsense folds the better. Haymon's killing boxing.

I was actually surprised when they first announced it would be a PPV fight. I thought HBO would wait until GGG was fighting a higher caliber of fighter than Lemieux.

Like who ?

I think putting it on PPV is going to be a hard sell and I'm not buying it.
PBC would have been a good idea they have been fantastic.

If he was fighting Cotto or Canelo, PPV would have been a no-brainer.
