Ringside is a great show. A nice mix of chat and action.
Colin Hart's a bitter old man nowadays and I don't know why they use him.

Paul Dempsey is a good anchor, if a bit repititve - its funny when you watch the old tapes - the guy still uses EXACTLY the same phrases to close up ("By for now") and introduce and hasn't aged at all. Its only when they go to McGuigan when you can tell how old the recording is.

Ringside is a good show, my one failing with it was that it doesn't often show the fights in full (I had the video set up for Dean Phillips and they cut most of it out).

Incidently, is "Ed r" who occasionally posts here Ed Robinson?

My one complaint (it's more of a gripe with sky really) is that when we have live boxing during the week, there's no ringside. In an ideal world i'd like ringside to be shifted to another night, so that we can get both. Or is that just me being greedy?

For me the show's at its best when Nelson, McGuigan and Watt are the panellists. All three know what they're talking about, and aren't afraid to call it as they see it. Having said that, i do like the idea of rotating the guests, so that we do get a broader range of opinions.

You can see why they cut the rounds most of the time, there's just alot to fit into a one hour timeslot, it's really a shame that sky can't extend the length of the program on a regular basis. I mean, come on, what else do they have to show on a thursday night?

I think Ed Robinson posts as "Ed r" and "Ed Rob". Judging from their posts i'm pretty sure they're the same guy.

Yes that's annoyed me on many occasions. I'm ready to press record on my video and they just show highlights, not even the full rounds sometimes.

I liked that Cotto interview they did not too long ago, and the previews of upcoming domestic fights are top class. Both Johnny Nelson and Ed Robinson are very articulate, good speakers. For some reason every time I think of the name Gary Lockett I hear Ed announcing it, which is... strange.

I enjoyed those features they did when Spenser Oliver visited various trainers to look into the different training methods they used.

In conversation I have gone to say OSSSCAR De La Hoya, ala Adam Smith. It is odd that Ed seems to do things involvig Lockett and Smith is always involved with DLH segments.

Re Colin Hart. The two or three times I've been ringside and after a fight when everyone's standing up and making their way to press conference or whatever, some of the comments he's made to me have been spot on, but he always comes across as pompous. And anyway, just because he's been around during the primes of some great fighters doesn't automatically make him a great writer does it?

I mean, Hart v McIllvanney. There's no contest is there?

I had to tell Colin hart what Ben Tackie's record was once. Says it all really. He didn't seem to know anything about him.

they are the only ones who do, out of the rest the only one who you can credit is Adam Smith, and he's an Alan Partridge clone, which says it all. Dempsey is awful, won't criticise anybody, his excuse making for Warren the other week made me want to vomit "Surely you can't criticise allegedly though Barry"
Oh, and they should get rid of Nicky Piper, he's simply a twat and extremely biased.
