I thought we had best tip our hats to leon. He won by stoppage last night against someone who had criticised his previous mental health problems and allegedly described him as a sex pest or something similar at a previous head to head.

Mccallum, thr younger man, had ridiculed McKenzies previous boxing record and criticised his efforts as a footballer.

Seems like the scotsman got what he deserved. Anyone know of the whereabouts of any film footage from the fight at york hall last night? the rivalry between the two had got me interested in the fight.

Glad for Leon . I was in the gym the first day his dad Clinton brought him in when he was about 14 you could see he'd done some pad work with his dad before . if I remember rightly he got put in with Ted bami who was as strong as an ox and I didn't see Leon again till about 5 years later in a night club when he was at palace we had a chat and he was a nice young man at the time and clearly still loved boxing

yes i think he did say that. lets hope he retires now. boxing is a gentlemans sport, i support leon for not shaking his hand at the weigh in, if he had said the same to me i think i would have chinned him at the 'face to face' in the studio a few weeks before the fight. someone please must have some footage, we want to see it. does anyone know Leon to get some footage off him?

Yes he did, he now has a gym in Tulse Hill on Norwood Road, I interviewed him once there, was a lovely bloke. I was meant to do a 15 minute interview, and we got talking about boxing in general, and we ended up talking for 2 1/2 hours. When I asked him about his fight with Sugar Ray at the olympics, it was like it was yesterday when he talked about it. Full of enthusiam for the sport, and still fit as a fiddle he was. When I left he was having a spar with his missus - I shit you not!

Saw him a few years later when he was with one of his fighters at a show and he remembered me and said hello. Nice bloke.

I meant his depression really, he sank to rock bottom and has pulled himself back up again.

Really glad he won this. The build up was a bit disgraceful to be honest.

So here it is people the fight is on YouTube. In my opinion looking back I won every round & because my corner couldn't stop the blood from going into my eye I lose a British Title fight. I feel robbed because I definitely didn't lose. Sorry Leon but that wasn't a solid victory!

I watched it and in fairness had McCallum ahead but not every round was a decent fight... Bad cut though a rematch would settle this

McCallum retired on his stool, i did not hear him complaining. Surely warriors that spout off before fights go out on their shield?..... just saying!

The ultimate irony would be that he goes into a bout of heavy depression after the loss.

Why didnt this go to the cards if it was an accidental headclash? Was it because McCallum quit himself?

Good little scrap, Mckenzie has gone up in my estimation, McCullum should have no complaints and def didn't go out on his shield.

Didn't watch it all but well done Leon. I liked the way he carried himself in the build-up.

I think the depression comments are unpleasant and glad Leon won. However to suggest he should fight the winner of Smith-Fielding makes me rather uncomfortable..... Looking at the video both look leagues below that standard

McKenzie will make a great first defence, he is a name, will generate a lot of interest and will be low risk.
