According to Ben Thompson on Fight Hype "sources close to the information" are claiming Rohan Murdock will face the undefeated WBA super champ Andre Ward on the Cotto vs Canelo undercard, November 21. Australian Boxing Central are also running with the story.

The Ward fight was offered not long ago to fellow Aussie Zac Dunn.

From the West Australian Italian Club to the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Vegas good luck to him(if true). Can see SOG getting heavily criticised fighting Rohan. Especially if it's over 168.

Would be an even quicker ending than Quillin V Zerafa.

Huge payday for Murdock. If he were to win, which seems highly unlikely, it would rank with the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Massive mismatch.

An elite fighter like Ward has no business fighting such a low quality opponent.

Quillin is a significantly bigger puncher than Ward in my view and I suspect that this would be more of a prolonged beating.

Correct. But Ward may pack more whack at 175 (assuming the fight will be at 175).

True bigger than Buster Douglas's victory over Mike Tyson but he will apparently earn enough for a new house.

Ward inks deal with HBO, will fight on Cotto-Canelo card

According to spam sources, Andre Ward has finalized his three-fight deal with HBO which will feature him on the upcoming Cotto-Canelo card and line him up for a showdown with Sergey Kovalev.

It's looking like Andre Ward has signed off on the three-fight HBO contract that would put him in line to challenge Sergey Kovalev sometime in 2016. I covered much of the details behind this HBO deal just a couple of weeks ago, but basically Ward signing this contract will get him featured on the megafight between Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez, then another light heavyweight fight in early-ish 2016, with him finally taking on Sergey Kovalev in what will probably be next Fall.

Although Ward does not yet have an opponent named for the Cotto-Canelo card, the leading candidate is said to be Rohan Murdock (18-1, 14 KOs) - someone Ward should have little difficulty with. Ward's deal with HBO all but solidifies his move into the light heavyweight division, one he's just dabbled in when he took a catchweight fight at a contracted 172lbs against Paul Smith this past June.

Obviously this move also steers Andre Ward and Gennady Golovkin in different directions. So despite their back-and-forth in the media, it doesn't appear the two will be meeting each other in the near future.

Paul Smith was to receive $US 225,000 to fight Andre Ward. That works out at about $Aust 320,000.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing ... -over.html

The median price for a new house in Perth is $530,000.

http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/perth ... iv3t0.html

Is your source claiming Murdock will receive around $500,000 for fighting Ward??

That would be about 50% more than Smith received.

It's not just 1 guy. A poster called tansend in the current scene forum says he's getting $275,000.

http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... 3&start=50

The median price may be 530k but a house in Fremantle would be considerably more than a house at say High Wycombe. Regardless if Rohan gets the fight lets hope he at least puts in a credible performance or even better gets the .0001% chance he lands a lucky punch and wins. :TU:

So Murdock is getting $275,000 you say, and that is enough to buy him a house in High Wyncombe?

Pigs might fly too  The median house price in High Wyncombe is nearly double that.

http://www.yourinvestmentpropertymag.co ... combe.aspx

High Wyncombe median price $480,000, Annual capital growth 7.69%, Number of sales 224, Weekly median advertised rent $450

Time to quit the Chinese whispers and check the accuracy of what you post before you post it

This is a terrible mismatch, even if Murdock is getting good money his handlers should consider his safety first, he will get seriously hurt by Andre Ward.

Gee you take winning on the internet seriously. I hope Rohan causes the boilover and can afford a substantial downpayment on a house in High Wycombe or Balga. :TU:

Im sure they won't let him get seriously hurt. Ward isn't a heavy handed fighter. Agree with the mismatch part but who are we to talk about mismatches in Australia. We use the Philos,Argies,Indos and retired, neurological damaged fighters the Yanks and others use us. $275k paydays don't come up everyday.
