Boxing is littered with great fighters who had bad endings having stayed in the game for too long. Is Froch's career end the sweetest in the history of British, or even world boxing? Is a one punch KO of a great rival on front of 80,000 the greatest career end of all time or has any other top fighter in history ever gone out on a comparably high note?

I'd say Calzaghe must be up there - obviously not as dramatic as Froch-Groves 2, but he was fighting in MSG against Roy Jones Jr, it was almost an exhibition for him & he knew it was his last fight going into it so made sure he enjoyed himself.

Froch's would have been better if he'd have announced it straight away.

He ko'ed his rival in front of 80,000 people at Wembley stadium? Wow! First time I've heard of it.

Edit: Just googled this guys, it's true. Carl Froch knocked out George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. In a boxing ring. At Wembley. With 80,000 people watching. Just so you know. It's strange that not much has been said about it before.

Henry Maske - Came back after 11 years to unanimously outpoint Virgil Hill whom he had lost to on a split decision 11 years previously.

Sweet comeback & ending for him.

Yes, I've always thought that. When he actually announced his retirement, his send off ended up being rather muted which was a shame for him.
Having said that, I think after the Groves fight he had every intention to finish his career off in a headlining Las Vegas fight which of course didn't materialise.

Curtis Woodhouse would have had a fairy tale ending if he had finished after winning the British title.

Although he lost, Ricky Hatton's attempt at a comeback demonstrated that he was still loved by the fans and it finally gave him some closure on his career. He was way off his best but it was an emotional night.

Not massive but Carbajal ended his career by beating Jorge arce for another world title which was a good result

STOP PRESS: carl Froch has been lying to us all....!!! He didn't knock out George Groves in front of 80,000 at Wembley.

I hope he adjusts his spiel now, to, for example: "Wow Rachel, that was some shiner you just gave me.... It felt almost as good as knocking out George Groves in from of 78,000 people at Wembley...." Etc etc

Gavin Rees did really well and I enjoyed how John Keeton went out, he was so happy at beating Dean Francis that he didn't care he lost to Ovill.
