There's a few boxers (current/retired/semi retired) that I've seen that don't really seem to care about their fans and just see them as ££££.

Anyone know of any stories of boxers being absolute tools to their fans or not even caring if they have fans at all?

It's an obvious answer, but I don't think David Haye gives a toss about anyone but himself.

First name that came to mind was Haye. Always seemed to treat his fans as mugs and ATMs

Funnily enough it was the video of haye selling his ring that prompted the thread. Not that he was selling the ring, more the stringing along his fans using them as a pay packet these days. Lots of people had commented on the video asking if that was him officially retiring etc.

BUT

Haye used to take the time to do live question and answer facebook events and tried to respond to many of the posts.
I have loads of friends who have met him and he's let him take pictures and they've said he's a decent guy
He also agreed to do a personal message on a poster i was buying from his website, which i ended up buying signed without the message before he agreed by email but never the less the though was there lol

Surely theres some boxers out there who just simply hate their fans.

I've read Jake Lamotta wouldn't do anything unless he got a pound note out of it.

Calzaghe has always seemed indifferent towards them. Hate is a strong word but he never seemed bothered if he had any or not. Paul Speak seems to hate Ricky's fans!

I've never taken to Paul Smith, I always just seem to think he don't give a toss about the fans. Anyone who disagrees with him on social media just gets blocked and its his way or the highway.

This is true, but it's just common sense to treat your fans well, if only for selfish purposes (sell more tickets / merch / PPVs etc).

On the other side of things, Haye often gave punters excitement with his performances.

Yeah he's the modern day Nicky piper crap in the ring and overrated pundit!

Haye is a nice guy, spoke to him a few times and he used to reply to my emails whenever i would send them. He got a bad rap, even with George Groves, he was pushed away due to his affiliation with Booth. He actually reached out to Groves i hear. This was around Nov 2013. Dont know about his relationship with ex hayemaker camp now.

Agree with Cotto, met him in Vegas in the afternoon, no one was recognising him he wasn't being bothered. I came up and using my faltering Spanish told him I was from England, called him 'Campeon' and asked if it was ok to have a snap. He was really surly, showed no interest even though I'd attempted ton speak Spanish, nodded, I took the photo. And he just kind of ambled off on his own. He acted like a celebrity who was high on coke. In the words of the Sun though "There is no suggestion that he was on cocaine or drugs of any nature". He just acted like it
