My most embarrassing was having a load of casual fans over to watch the immortal, unstoppable, Roy Jones Jnr when he fought Tarver first time. They'd never heard of him and had been told tales of best p4p of all time etc.... Looked a right wally when he looked more sugar diabetes than sugar ray.

Most gutting, and surest I'd ever been that I was right, was Jamie Moore beating Rhodes. Couldn't comprehend how Rhodes could possibly win that one.

Not sure if I tipped Maccarinelli over Haye too as much through hope and patriotism I'd like to think.

I lost 14 consecutive 50p bets on major title fights at school to a friend who was a very good picker of winners and knew I would somehow always make a case for the underdog. I forget the picks, but am sure there were some very bad ones in there. We ended the run of bets when he said to me "Don't suppose you fancy Douglas against Tyson?" and I said "Even I'm not that stupid."

I lost a few quid when I put a 'safe bet' on Devon Alexander to win a UD over 'soft opponent' Shawn Porter

The biggest boxing bet I ever made (four figures) was on Collazo to beat Khan.

Told everyone who would listen and invested heavily on Maccarinelli/McPhilbin, this fight cannot go the distance.

I still sit sometimes in a darkened room with a beer in my hand and even though the fight has been over for 3 years, I still think it's not
going the distance.

It haunts me.

I was convinced that David Haye would beat Klitchsko.
I told anyone that cared to listen how Haye had the speed and the power to stop him and wouldn't allow Klit to bully him.

I also genuinely believed that Steve Robinson would derail Naz.

I tend to keep quiet these days, but did think Canelo would do a number on Mayweather.

Golota to beat Lewis was by far my worst ever pick. I'd never picked against Lennox before and didn't after either. Very bad call.

But Oscar was severely fucked in that fight due to the weight so in hinsight its no surprise now

In monetary terms Barrera over Khan, although I maintain that the fight would have got interesting if Barrera's cut hadn't opened...

Don't know if it counts, but I really thought David Price had the tools to become heavyweight champion of the world.

I still remember Audley's BBC fights quite fondly. I was at unversity when he debuted. Only had five channels in my student digs. Used to watch him on BBC on a portable telly. Few cheapo beers inside of me, watching Big Aud on a Saturday night. I knew how to party.

I think the idea was, when Audley was ready, they'd have domestic rivals for him to fight that they'd already featured on their channel. Herbie Hide made a couple of appearances too. (Audley ended up fighting Williams and Sprott on ITV, after the Beeb had done the build up work.)

Howard Eastman had a few BBC fights too.

On-Topic: my uncle told me Michael Spinks was going to embarrass Mike Tyson. Since then, I have confidently picked the boxer in boxer-versus-puncher match-ups, & much like my uncle, I am often spectacularly wrong.

I remember that fight. I don't remember it being on a Tuesday, but I looked it up and you're right. It was.

I think a couple of Audley fights were mid-week too. From memory, I think both Krence and Negus were. Though this was more than a decade ago, so may be remembering the wrong ones.
