Mine was Michael Watson to beat Nigel Benn, the fight strangely took place on a Thursday, I was 17 years old and 10 stone wet. I had already bet mates and people from the boxing club.

I went to my Dads local pub after training on that day, and its was packed (pubs were in the 80's), and this pub was a local pub for local people, the hard men with tattoos were pissed and giving it all the big un, one was saying Benn will wipe the floor with Watson , 2 rounds at the most. For some reason I piped up and said no chance, Watson will win. He came up to me and said "I've seen you box, and i know you fxck all about boxing", this peed me off so I said 50 quid, and double if I get the round.
This guy had a reputation, mainly around biting and ear off, you know how these guys go.
Anyway Watson came up trumps and he did pay out, but said to walk the main road home as things can happen!

As an extra to my story, my mate about 6 months later mullered the prick when he started on him for no reason.
So wins all round.

i'm fairly crap at picking fights but a notable recent success was £100 straight bet with a mate that Cleverly would get stopped by Kovalev within 6 rounds.
I know a few 'proper' boxing fans could see that coming, but my mate know his stuff and was convinced Clev would win, i ring him with a gob full of abuse the morning after 'Krusher' smashes his next victim now

I put £100 on George Groves points vs James Degale. The odds were 12-1 which I thought was way too long. I wasn't confident about the result but odds were very good.

Ward to win the Super 6 was 7-2. Audley win both Prizefighters and Winky Wright to beat Tito at 4-1 were my biggest.

I also put a ton on Margarito by stoppage over Cotto (first fight) at 9-1

I picked Watson and eubanks to beat benn I think I stuck a fiver on each one , chas Symonds's dad used to drink in my local and when he fought Ross minter a few of locals were betting on Symonds who I think was unbeaten I took a couple of bets of £50 and I was given 2-1 minter won in 3 .

I used to pick some outsiders when I was younger I don't think I've won a boxing bet in years now I tend to picks rounds at long odds rather than who wins

I had a few quid on the draw in Lewis v Holyfield I

I always felt De La Hoya wouldnt be able to make his size count against Pacquiao

Also i tipped Selby to dominate Gradovich with ease

I napped Corrie Sanders to beat Klitschko back in the day but my favourite ever was tipping (and punting) Michael Gomez to stop Alex Arthur at 10/1. What a fight. What a f*cking nigjt an all!

I was chatting boxing with an Albanian coke dealer a few days before the Calzaghe-Manfredo fight, I predicted a 3rd round win for Calzaghe. Unbeknownst to me, he then went & laid a grand on this - did my street cred a world of good

Mosley to beat Margarito, although in fairness I thought he'd nick it on points.

Maccarinelli was something like 8-1 to KO bobby gunn in 1 . We'd all gone down to the calzaghe ma credo fight and this paid for our whole trip.

Are you sure he was 8-1? I bet on Ko1 as well but am sure it was not that long.... I thought it was 3-1

I remember Haye was silly odds for an early blowout of Bonin in his heavyweight debut. Way into the 10's-1, perhaps even as high as 25-1 for each of the first 3 rounds. I didn't get any money on it though like an idiot!

I've come very close on rounds before but never landed one. I won a fifty off a pal when it seemed like a lot of money given how young we were, that Barrera would beat Naz.
I had a few quid on Price to stop Sexton between 1-3. He could have done it easily but let it go to round 4. Later it turns out someone in the Liverpool area had stuck 10k on a round 4 finish for Price!

Hopkins to beat pavlik at 11/4 is the one i always remember. Went to the same bookie for about 5 weeks putting money on fights and kept winning with this one rounding it all off

Pavlik ko7 Taylor. Won about £200.

Can't remember the exact odds but I picked the correct stoppage round in both the Froch vs Groves fights.
Komitsky and Ovill McKenzie have both won me a few quid over the last few years.
