Smith rides out an early rounds effort from rocky and stops him in the middle rounds, but if I could wave a magic wand I would love to see fielding land his best punches and upset the apple cart. When he is meant to have a test he blows them away, when he is meant to have a knock over job he seems to struggle or under perform a bit.

Smith on points. Don't think it will be as one sided as some think and I wouldn't write Fielding off. Smith has looked good at times but also has been a bit underwhelming in some fights.

Smith will hit too hard, especially to the body - hell stop Rocky in the first half of the bout.

A mid-rounds stoppage would be a good result for Smith considering that his previous opponents who seem closest to Fielding's level (but still beneath it imo) took him the distance. He's got heavy hands, as does Fielding, but I'm not sure if he's major puncher despite the blowouts in his earlier fights and it will be the first time he's facing a good opponent who isn't significantly out-sized. Moreover, I think Smith is clearly yet to face someone on Fielding's level offensively, so he may be unable to walk forward with impunity like he's done in the past.
I'll take Smith on a competitive but clear decision, with Fielding going down at some point from body shots. If Smith manages to blow him out it will make a statement, while pretty much any Fielding would be huge for him considering his underdog status and the popular perception that Smith is a future champ.

Really not sure on this. Can't believe it is happening and on normal sky the way Matchroom have been.
Don't be suprised to see Fielding win early though.
Still unsure on Callum's chin. Then again not sure on Fieldings either.

I'm quite looking forward to this fight, anything could happen, they both carry Decent power yet have untested chins.
Smith is the more technically proficient boxer with more punch variety and will start as favourite, but Fieldings left hook looks like if it lands clean, it could end any fight.
I'm leaning towards Smith but wouldn't write Rocky off.

I fully expect this fight to fall through by mid next week at least
hope im wrong but these are type of fights that tend to do that.

I like Fieldings confidence and think he will make a really good go of it. Expect him to start strong, but crucially Smith will ride it out, take over and break his will. Although Smiths chin hasn't been tested, he just has a strong, sturdy look and is heavy handed.
Smith Decision, with maybe a knockdown on the way.

i think Smith is much more a 'big lad at the weight' (who's often been fighting people a weighclass or two undersized) than he is a big puncher or particularly heavyhanded.
for some reason- probably the mid-career fights I saw him feast on fvcking midgets- I can't stand the big stiff idiot (i mean his style, the way he fights) and
really want to see him get fvckin chinned.

Callum looks gangly to me, he has good skills but seems to apply them in a very stiff and robotic manner, and has shown very little head movement as he stepped up a bit.
I think Fielding will take this on points, much more fluid, less pressure on him, and crucially he seems to fight to the opponent/occasion. I think he is the purer boxer of the 2.

I think what we may be finding is that people have grown tired and are not as easily lead by the Eddie Hearn /Sky hyping of fighters ect as we were couple of years ago with Callum smith , yes he was blowing guys away in first round and it all looked mighty impressive but were really only going on the gym stories about him handling Froch ect.
im glad hes going for the British title through and fighting a live unbeaten opponent and sorting out the questions of whos best in his city at that weight before moving on.

I was surprised by Oliver Harrison’s disrespectful comments towards Joe Gallagher in the Matchroom promo vid. Said he’s not a world class trainer and had all his fighters handed to him.
Anyone know what’s gone on there?

I don't think Joe is massively popular amongst his peers.

I thought Gallaghers comments were much more disrespectful when he said the event should all be about the 4 Smith brothers becoming British Champions and it doesn't matter who's in the other corner the man is an intolerable arsehole
I do however think Smith will win as a few others have said a competitive but clear decision

Corals have Fielding 5/2 on this one, anyone seen any better odds?
I'd like Fielding to do it, not entirely sure why probably for the reasons mentioned earlier in the topic that it upsets the apple cart a bit more!

Marathon have him 33/10 at the moment, that's the best out there, 5/2 is very short compared to the other odds on offer for Fielding.

Can see why, he's not shy in his opinions. Cleary a very good trainer though.
I don't think Fielding and the Smiths particularly get on as well.

I think Fielding takes a decision.
Smith loves to work the body on the inside and is sometimes more comfortable doing this than he is fighting at long range. At long range I can see Fielding out jabbing him, and if Smith does try to close the distance Rocky might time him with a nice right hand. Overall, I don't think Smith's as good as people are making him out to be and on the other hand, I think people are underestimating Rocky.
Rocky to win via decision with Team Smith crying robbery.

How will Paul Smith talk his way out of avenging Callum's loss if Rocky wins? He can't criticise Rocky's level anymore. Maybe he could say he's become elite class rather than just world class because he's been in with Ward?
