Be interesting to see whos the fastest boxer. I'd reckon a super middle tbh. Someone with the physique of the likes of James Degale, tall enough for the bigger strides but not carrying to much weight.
He be bloody fast if AJ was chasing him! Possibly even faster if Mack was coming up from behind.Counter-puncher wrote:i wouldn't be surprised if Wilder- long legs, fast-twitch type guy- ran a quick 100

I bet Yusuf is suffering now :(PsychoGamerTwo wrote:And Mack would run under 10s, if Devon Alexander were chasing him.

ElJefe wrote:Interesting question. Got me thinking about the average build of a 100m sprinter so I had a look at the 8 finalists from London 2012.
Average weight was 186lbs. Average of the top 4 was 195lbs.
Average height was 6'1. Average of the top 4 was 6'1 and 1/2.
Not sure if there's anyone in boxing who matches those measurements other than cruisers, the majority of whom have a completely different body shape to sprinters.

100 metres is a power event. Jones probably would have run very respectable times at 400 metres and perhaps 200 metres. But at 100 metres bigger, stronger bodies would have beaten him.Cent0089 wrote:Roy Jones in mid 90s was sure fast. Today, Andre Dirrell must be fast too
There are of course exceptions to the rule (or in this case the average). Usain Bolt being the best there is and standing 6ft 5 and weighing 207lbs.ElJefe wrote:Interesting question. Got me thinking about the average build of a 100m sprinter so I had a look at the 8 finalists from London 2012.

What do you mean sprinters dont cut? I am a sprinter myself ( 5'8 ) and my off-season weight is around 180lb.. then I cut down to 168lb when the races come.Sklar wrote:Light heavies are typically around that weight come fight night after refuelling. Sprinters don't cut.
Is Devon Alexader correct? Surely your ringpiece spreads when you have a shyte and then goes back to standard. Obviously that's travelling in a different direction 50% of the time to a schlong. I have heard of gays having to use tampons having been fisted to the point of no return but thought it may be an urban myth.
You don't need to be big to sprint fast. Powell and Gatlin are big but Tyson gay is around 170 and ran under 9.8. Kim Collins is about 150 and ran sub 10 in his mid 30s, there are also plenty of women under 150 who ran 10.90 or slightly faster.Like a Boss wrote:100 metres is a power event. It is all pretty hypothetical. We don't know if Jones had sprinting ability at all. But I have a feeling he would have excelled at 200 / 400 more so than 100.dominik wrote:You don't need to be big to sprint fast. You can't generalize that.
You diet, you don't - or shouldn't -cut. Two different weight loss techniques that are not always mutually exclusive. Do a search to learn the difference between the two.Aaronide_ger wrote:What do you mean sprinters dont cut? I am still 19 years old so Ill probably weigh more than 175lb (Race shape) as the time passes.
You said cutting weight, you did not mention what technique. And its not about diet, gaining Lb off-season has a purpose in track and field and that is to gain power when doing powerlifting (Thats what we do to increase leg power, squats-snatches etc) Then I cut down weight trying to MAINTAIN the power..Sklar wrote:You diet, you don't - or shouldn't -cut.
