I've enjoyed the thread about fighters who were shot young, however a flip question is which fighters ended, or had, their careers ended too early?

Two obvious ones are Salvador Sanchez and Masao Ohba, who both died way too young, whilst another was Yoko Gushiken, who retired very young despite having for a lot into his career.

Hamed cut short what could of been an even better career than he had, I think haglers quote applies here about not wanting to get out of bed to train when your wearing silk pyjamas!

Liam Hanrahan. Has, I believe, retired due to injury; he had a decent future ahead of him, was a very good technical boxer and I always used to enjoy watching him. His loss recently was, I believe, a bit of a lack of preparation, but you can probably find most of his previous bouts online or on the Coldwell Boxing app.

Ditto Kieran Farrell who ironically fought on a Coldwell Promotions show against Anthony Crolla in a fantastic fight, before collapsing at the end and suffering a bleed on the brain. Kieran is doing some fantastic work in Manchester with his 'People's Gym' now.

Also Jonjo Finnegan who had a similar injury, although I will confess I saw very, very little of his career. Hanrahan and Farrell though were good fighters and were guys I made a point of looking out for.

Mike Tyson (fought as a 25 year old and not again until he was 29).
Michael Watson.
Gerald McClellan.

Also Joe messi, ike? ( madman heavy), Bradley stone and Tony silkstone.

Terrible what happened to Stone and Silkstone.

I was still enjoying watching Paul Ryan and he could have knocked a good few out still when he quit, same for Jason Rowland and Ross Hale.

I used to speak to Liam regular on Twitter & never understood why he just disappeared when it looked like he lived for boxing. Coldwell came out with a statement about a year ago that he was taking a break then he appeared on Boxrec for a recent Stoke bill then promptly went again.

Farrell likewise another boxer that I saw regular who had to pack in young probably could have got to British level.

Eamon loughran retired at 26

EDIT: Just checked his 'Team Hanrahan' Facebook page, 22nd September he said he had to pull out of 24th October due to some abnormal brain scans and that he was calling it a day. Very sad, but a blessing that it ended that way than the way of Farrell, Finnegan etc

hey mark nice to have been mentioned yeah unfortunately iv had to retire due to health reason and my loss was due to making weight totally wrong and very dangerously. stupid off me to do so just hope other boxers learn from other boxers mistakes.
but myself and the fans and the macclads that followed made great nights and memories to last for ever, i thank every1 for the support,

Horace Notice. It would have been interesting to see how far he would've gone if he wasn't forced to retire after 16 fights.

Tommy Sheils - welterweight from Kilburn who stopped Del Bryan in two rounds. Could hit like
a mule and boxed for Fwank who retired unbeaten.

Craig Dermody.

Ray Leonard. Retired in 1982 aged 25. Apart from the Howard fight in 1984 he didn't fight again until Hagler in 1987 when he was 30. Similar to Tyson in that he missed out on a large chunk of his physical prime.
