It would be tough to be a decent boxer and using drugs like heroin. Boxers might smoke some weed, maybe use some type of speed when cutting weight but being a junkie and fighter don't mix. Some boxers are getting into steroids somewhat.

i actually knew two professionals in boston in the late 80's who were good club
fighters and had fought on national tv who were junkies. i mean during their careers.
i knew a few others who did it after their careers but don't know if they did it
during their careers. i suspect the OP is more my generation and that is why
he is asking. heroin is making a comeback in some areas after the crackdowns
on oxy and other pills recently and the increase in opium production in the east.
i doubt anyone is shooting before a fight, but boxers get into all kinds of trouble
on the streets.

Heroin is almost certain to ruin anyone's career boxer, banker or baker. I should imagine it would be extremely detrimental to any athlete. I believe Tony Ayala jnr was a heroin user.

Many pushers are users too and it helps to be able to fight a bit if you're a pusher, boxers can fight a bit (usually) and drug dealing is lucrative.

Plenty of boxers have admitted to using coke. Not heard any talk of heroine though.

There's a stigma to heroin while coke use is seen as OK. Heroin used to be seen as cool -in the jazz age etc but is widely seen as a down and out drug - plenty of people use it it without admitting though.

aside from the dirty needles problem and iv punctures, heroine is not nearly as destructive
to your heart, organs, and mind, but of course the addiction takes complete control over the
person and wrecks their life, and heroin seems to be worse than coke in that aspect.
coke is also a stimuant and heroin a depresant so under the influence that also makes a
difference. being around narcotraffickers is never a wholesome way to spend your time
and that also introduces lots of issues into your life, but if you're addicted you stop caring
about life and the people around you anyways. drugs and sex are these incredible equalizers
where you see people who have no business being in the same zip code drawn to each other.
if a car gets pulled over with a CEO or televangelist and some drop out parolee in it, guaranteed
they are doing drugs or having sex or both.

drugs are drugs brother! Nobody is immune from their grasp and nobody is so strong that they can resist the addiction once they get themselves involved. It holds no prejudice against any sex, color, creed, or orientation. It's a brutal disease and believe me.......it is a disease!!!!!!!!!!!!
