Does Anyone Give Whyte a Chance?

I like both fighters. I've always warmed to the underdog too. But I haven't seen too much of Dillian.

Does he have any chance at all? How's his chin been so far? Saying that, I thought Smith Fielding was going to go to points. Both had shown decent chins (to my knowledge).

The best scenario - for British boxing (in my humble opinion) - is for a fantastic, close, fight. Again, I also thought that about last weekends matchup in Liverpool.

He definitely has a chance because AJ hasn't been in with a live body yet and hasn't been hit flush on the chin as a pro.

AJ of course deserves to be favourite but Whyte comes with genuine ambition and has looked a decent prospect himself. I'm not aware of him ever being hurt or staggered as a pro and he's had sparring against proper talents where he has reportedly handled himself well.

It's a dangerous fight for AJ.

I'm getting wise to these over hyped grudge matches.
I must admit to being duped into the "50/50" bullshit on far too many occasions

Hearn will tell us in one breath that AJ is not only a future world champ but a potential long term undisputed ruler of the division, then he'll go on to say that Whyte vs AJ is competitive, when we all know Whyte wont reach european level.

Whyte is interesting and a step up from what AJ has faced so far, with a decent punchers chance.
But if AJ is going to go anywhere close to fulfiling his potential, he should make easy work of him
Whyte will pose a few questions for AJ, but that doesn't mean AJ wont have a resounding answer

you hear over the years of Boxers that have won in the amatuers having there number and doing in in the pros

spring to mind for me - Groves V Deale and Forrest v Mosley ( who were both Big underdogs )

im sure there are lots of examples though where the amateur result has been reversed

obviously they are totally different fighters now but a wins a win and he put him on his arse also.

that said I cant see the AJ Train stopped just yet but I want see him take some leather

Whyte will give it a good go at least and has a longer reach than Joshua. Those two things alone mean he at leas brings to the table more than any previous Joshua opponent.

Truly feel this will be one of AJ's biggest tests of his career. I think Whyte is already in his head and he doesn't look comftable around him. Where as Dillian knows the pressure is not at him and is loving the ocasion of potentially causing a huge upset. Wether this all comes in to play fight night is another thing. Cant see it going past 5 though with both maybe hitting the canvas. Good fight!

Those who don't think Whyte is capable of reaching even European level, what makes you think that? He's still a prospect and very much unexposed as a boxer. In boxing he may lack experience given his short amateur career, but he's a two time British heavyweight kickboxing champion and former European champion with a 20-1 K1 record - which suggests he's got some fighting ability and is likely to have significant high level competitive experience to draw upon which should not be underrated. It's possible he could turn out to be more of a fighter than AJ when the going gets tough - provided he can make it tough.

Literally nothing can be learned from his kickboxing career.
UK kickboxing is in a sorry state and BIKMA (the organisation of which he was champion) is not REALLY recognised as a credible title even by kick boxers.
Also, it's misleading to say that he has a 20-1 K1 record as he has never fought in K1. He has fought 'K1 rules' which is the equivalent of me making up an organisation and holding 'UFC rules' fights.
That's not to say that Whyte wasn't good, to be where he is as a boxer proves his ability, as boxing is levels above kickboxing in this country.

Well he seemed to learn enough to beat a future Olympic gold medalist on his amateur boxing debut.

I give him a chance.
He beat Joshua before.
He trains with the world champion.
He seems to be cool and calm whenever I've seen him on video.
AJ is simply a humanbeing and every man can be beat.

I give him a chance. I think Joshua is rightly the heavy favourite. But I think as long as Whyte doesn't go out all guns blazing (which I don't think he will) then I think he's going to pose some serious questions of Joshua and win or lose we will learn a lot about both fighters in this one.

Hold my hands up I was definitely wrong on Smith v Fielding so may well be again, but I really hope not. Would be brilliant to see a good lively domestic heavyweight fight.

A heavyweight that can punch has to be given every chance.....

Yes, he is a live bet to win.

Joshua has yet to be tested. Until then, the jury has to be out.

I hate this whole live bet BS. If we go with that attitude then any boxer has a chance against another.

Too many people saying If If If. The answer to this question is nobody gives Whyte a chance, and it would take a miracle for him to win.

That's right, especially at heavyweight.

So, you won't be watching then because it is a foregone conclusion.

But then you were probably one of those lunatics who thought David Price was going to become undisputed champion...

Has Whyte got a chance? He can punch, is unbeaten, has an amateur win over AJ, seems confident. Yes he has a chance. These are big men who can bang. The question is how much of a chance. I would put it at about 5-1. If AJ had shown any evidence of being fragile, it should be lower but he hasn't.

Every boxer does have a chance against another.
Its how big of a chance.
Gary Cornish, 1%.
Dillian Whyte, a tad more than Cornish

If you know 100% Joshua will win then get yourself down to the bank, withdraw everything you have and put it on the man. Youll be quids in...

There is no doubt he's the first person Joshua has fought that is coming to win and he is undefeated himself - for those reasons he can't be completely written off.

Obviously Joshua is the heavy favourite and we all expect him to see this off in about 3 rounds max, but until he gets hit we just don't know. It's whether Whyte has the ability to land anything is the question - Joshua is so much better schooled - my bet is Whyte goes charging in trying to land bombs, gets caught and hurt early and is stopped in the first round.

Anyone would think Whyte had packed in since their first fight... He's progressed himself, probably mostly in sparring all over the place. He dropped AJ with the head guard on, it won't be a miracle if he repeats it.
