59-year-old's return to ring to become world's oldest boxer again
http://www.itv.com/news/central/2015-11 ... teve-ward/
A 59-year-old from Nottinghamshire has set his sights on reclaiming his record as the oldest professional boxer in the world when he fights next month.
Steve Ward first won the title in 2011 but was beaten by an older American fighter in February this year.
After a narrow defeat on points at the end of last year Steve decided to hang up his gloves for good. But now he's coming out of retirement again to bring the record back home.
The first time Steve Ward stepped into a ring was more than 50 years ago - but he says come fight night he will be the fittest he has ever been.

I like when anyone follows their dreams.
But I do not want to see a guy this old get hurt.It is nothing more than a freak show to
sell a few more tickets. It should not be sanctioned.

Agree with you on both counts.

is this one of those masters bouts or a fully sanctioned bbbofc pro fight?
there have been older pros in the past so maybe this is just to be the oldest active pro now?
former 140lb champ mamby lost a 10 round decision at 60 and there have been older
guys than that fighting in recent years.

Hassan Chitsaz, the Iranian heavyweight fighting out of Mexico, will be 58 in two weeks. He has won 27 out of 28 fights, every one by KO, and most of those KO's in round one, most recently at the end of June.

This is the same guy that California would not issue a license to because he could not pass their physical.
So he lives in LA and fights in Mexico.
He might be strong enough to knock out cab drivers but he could get hurt very badly if he finds someone who can last more than a round.

i saw a thing last year about augie pantellas fighting at 70 but the promoter
of the card he was supposed to fight on had problems. he did get licensed
and was ready to fight, though. he hadn't fought since the 1970's
