Max Marek had defeated Joe Louis in a four rounder for the A.A.U Light Heavyweight title in April 1933 at Boston,Massachuestts.

and here is a trivia question for you
who were the other three men who had also defeated Joe Louis in the amateurs?

As an amteur boxer,Max Marek had fought in 14 boxing tournaments and never came less then second place.
Here are some of the titles he had won as Light-Heavyweight.

Chicago C.Y.O Tournament 1931-1932

Chicago Golden Gloves 1932-1933

National A.A.U title,Boston,Massachusetts 1933

After he retired from boxing in 1939 (32 pro fights) and after training military men in Boxing,Judo and Wrestling during WW II,
Max Marek later became a professional wrestler
