In a stunning spray, Jeff Fenech has warned The Daily Telegraph Mundine is a “shot fighter” who, at best, will be kayoed in the first round of their proposed $20 million rematch next May.

Fenech said he feared for Mundine’s life.

“It’s a bullshit fight,’’ Fenech fired on Wednesday. “And if there’s a boxing authority anywhere in Australia who lets it happen, we might as well ban the sport here forever.

“Everyone saw what happened to Anthony last fight. He got knocked down however many times by a light middleweight nobody knows.

“And Danny Green, he doesn’t punch like a light middleweight.

“People saying they want this fight to see Choc get knocked out, that’s exactly what they’ll get.

If I hadn't posted it someone else would have.

It does provide one valuable piece of info for the proposed Mundine vs Green fight though. A date. Even if it is only a tentative one - May next year.

I don't see why antonS we shouldn't listen to some-one like Fenech [unless your in Greens corner] who's been at this stage of a boxing career[past their best] before just like these two men he fought at the highest level I really hope some-one listens to him [Fenech] or atleast listen to some-one who isn't going to gain any financial reward for a BIG man to fight a LITTLE man like this is Mundine Sr once told a young amateur I was training
''Boxing is a young man's sport'' I wonder if he's ever told his son that :??

Jeff is being a bit dramatic it's not like Mundine-Ellis or Green-Briggs. That being said the fight doesn't hold much appeal for me but if theirs a demand for it and both participants are willing you can't stop it from happening.

Fenech knows as well as everybody else this fight will happen.

At least Mundine and Green are still actively competing. Unlike when he and Nelson met. Fenech hadn't fought for 12 years and Nelson hadn't fought for 10 years and nobody stepped in and stopped that one. Least of all Fenech himself. He and Stu Duncan promoted the fight.

Green is certainly flapping his gums in the media.

Why do no journos not question Green when he say's Mundine has rrun from the rematch for 10 years? Green turned down the rematch in 2008.

The media just love a story.

Why didn't they pursue Mundine with serious questions when he kept name dropping Mayweather's name for all those years and everybody knew he wasn't even on Mayweather's radar? I don't know how they kept a straight face interviewing him

The media just love a beat up they can call a story. Forget the facts

It's Anthony's call to fight on or not nothing we can do about it. As I said I am not too interested in a rematch but a lot are and it will make him a lot of money. Katsidis is still fighting and he is worse off physically and financially than Anthony.

Gee wiz how can you bring up what poor Michael Katsidis is doing to justify this fight for some-one to even go to that level is beyond me
I hope one day a person who you love or related too try their hand at boxing and if they end up in Mundine or Katsidis boot's your their to watch it all unfold before your eye's and you know what it will be called KARMER

If I had it my way Clive,Katsidis should be forced to retire and Mundine v Green wouldn't be sanctioned but until they get a medical authority that's fair dinkum sadly fights like this will go ahead. Brayd Smith and Davey Browne were tragedies Mundine is fighting at a charity benefit for his family hopefully when he sees Davey's widow and orphaned kids he has a rethink.

Green has fired back at Fenech

http://www.foxsports.com.au/more-sports ... 7616718789

Danny Green has suggested Jeff Fenech was gunning for him after losing an argument over seats at last Sunday’s UFC at Etihad Stadium.

“Jeff is a very cranky man after having to relocate from the seats he was sitting in,” Green said.

“Turns out he was in mine and after I asked the little fella to find his right seats it appears he has a bee in his bonnet. Now he’s on the warpath.

“A wise man once said to me about him: ‘Jeff has always had to finish first, second or third in a race. No-one else can get get a place.

“‘At a wedding he wants to be the groom, at a funeral he wants to be the corpse.’ Funny little fella, old Jeff. He’s obviously been affected by the rigours of boxing.

“Clearly his ‘I love youse’ mantra doesn’t apply to me.”

Or Danny he just doesn't want to see a fight between you and Mundine sanctioned. UFC seats FFS.

Or he has a bee in his bonnet like Green said. Fenech carries a grudge as good as anybody.

Chance of Green vs Mundine rematch = ZERO. Therefore, may I suggest you entertain yourself in another topic if need be

Are you sure Anton? The money spoken about would seem good enough for it to happen. Mundine is broke (in more ways then one). However he'd only have to show-up for 3rds or less.

I really hope a rematch doesn't happen as early as May, 2016. Mundine won't be big enough. I also hope to never see the "Anthony Mundine" that fought Hatley again. That was scary. We'll be waiting at least 12 months for a decent rematch, if it happens. I would love to see Choc just retire and leave Fanny and his fans sulking.

Mundine did not look or sound confident going into the fight. The characteristic unshakeable confidence replaced with pre-fight excuses of injured elbows and the hip injury. He's shot and he knew it before the Hatley fight. Getting knocked down repeatedly, like he did against Clottey, was only further proof of what he had already come to realize.

Age has finally caught up with "The Man" I think. I do believe he's got busted elbows, but only fought for the $$$ and the slight hope he'd win for his fans. I couldn't believe what I was watching. He dead set looked like he hadn't been training at all. Hatley - a C class world fighter - made him look every bit his age. If he can't get injuries sorted and a decent training camp for a Green rematch... Fanny could beat him bad. That would be the worst thing for Australian boxing.

With Green now out injured the trumpeted rematch moves further away over the horizon.

Any boxer could be killed in any fight.

I don't have an issue with Mundine fighting Green I just don't think it should be his NEXT fight. Always thought going down so far in weight would catch up to Mundine especially since he was doing it in the latter stage of his career. At least some...............not all.................but some of his reduced punch resistance was due to cutting down to 154.
imo, Mundine should have a fight at super-middle against a journeyman natural super-middleweight to see how he feels and fights when not weight drained, if it doesn't work out call it a career, if he wins take the Green fight.
As for Green, same for him.......................if he can get through a training camp.
Fight a light heavyweight who isn't a world beater but will show up to win...............if Green wins, take the rematch, if not retire.
