I note that Bellow has called Haye out and gone on record saying that he could knock him out.

Would people want to see this? The press conferences would be lively, and it would probably capture an audience beyond boxing circles. Would it be competitive, though? Is Bellow serious about it, or is he just doing his job and after a pay day?

An extra ingrediant is that Dave Coldwell is good friends with both and now trains Bellew.

As much as Bellew talks a big game but often fails to deliver, I think it's an intriguing match up and a fairly safe and sellable return opponent for Haye. But can Haye make the Cruiser limit? And if not, would Bellew sell himself out by agreeing to a 205 or even 210 catchweight? It wouldn't surprise me. You'd have to expect Haye to spark him regardless, which is a draw in itself.

Think I'd be rooting for a double-knockout in this one.

No way on earth that this fight happens. It would be a gross, albeit hilarious, mismatch.

Haye would utterly slaughter Bellew. It would sell though. I doubt Haye could make the cruiserweight limit but he would probably be able to make 210lbs or thereabouts.

I would love this fight to go ahead...the build up would be pure gold!

Bellew - bellend more like. Nothing against Tony, just a play on words, but the idea is pretty laughable, he'd be blasted to kingdom come.

Why would Haye bother making cruiserweight?

Would love to see this fight. Not because it's competitive but because I'd love to see Haye destroy Bellend within about 30 seconds.

Fair point but maybe because Bellew is a sellable name in the UK and there isn't really a sellable Heavy name out there that doesn't carry significant risk. But yeah, I think it's more likely he'd agree a catchweight.

What's the alternative? John McDermott? Steve Cunningham?

Tell you who I would love to see Haye in with - Antonio Tarver. Tony Thompson would also be a good one.

I have a feeling longer term he will be targeting Fury more than AJ. And if Wlad does retire, Povetkin isn't the biggest of heavies, and he already knows a bit about Wilder through sparring.

I don't want to see Tarver in a ring again, he's a serial drugs cheat.

Bellew isn't going to generate the kind of paydays that Haye is used to, it doesn't make a lot of sense as a fight, well, not to me anyway. Bellew must have some issues with self-loathing if he really wants this fight.

I think it's more likely he's after a cash out. He found his level at Light Heavy and doesn't look to be as good as a Cruiser. Against fringe contenders at Cruiser Bellew is at risk of losing, and without getting paid very much for that risk. He knows he's one loss away from being spent.

I'd like to see Bellew in with Afolabi, that'd be good.

Thompson lost to Malik Scott, who has said on Twitter he'd be up for taking on Haye...

Bellew wouldn't be lasting until the second half of the fight, if Haye got back to his best. We've seen that The Hayemaker carries enough power to KO heavyweights, and whilst I do think that Bellew is a rugged and tough man - he's too slow and clumsy to last against Haye.

Yeah, bit like McCrory versus big len. He said in an interview he knew that he was going get his (sizeable) block knocked off, but it was worth it for the payday. He went round running his mouth off about what he was going to do to Len, turning up once I believe at a restaurant that Lennox was eating at, and goading him. In the end it worked, he got a terrific thumping, but laughed all the way to the bank.
