Lomachenko next oponent

What wrong with Top Rank??? Since Lomachenko schools Russell, he fought 3 B class oponents in 1 and half year. If they wanna feed him with this type of oponents, he should fight at least every 2 months

. Anyway, here is poll, who you like to see as his next oponent?

Rigo is killing himself to make 122. His cheek bones were sticking out under skin yesterday. He needs to man up and fight Loma.

None of Lomachenko's wins have been against opponents who were top 25 at the time. I think Arum could safely move him up to fighting someone in the top 25 without needing to rush all the way into a top 5 opponent immediately. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Lomachenko fight more than twice a year like he has been, although there's a ton of titlists in boxing who only fought once a year or less, sad as that is.

I guess it depends on who's definition of top 25 you are using, because I would think Gary Russell jr. was top one or 2 by WBO when he fought Vasyl for vacant WBO title..

In his last fight he got to showcase his skills.
If Arum gives him a couple more B class opponents that he shines against he could build him up as a potential cross over star before he unifies the division.
A Salido rematch at some point would be sweet revenge.

Where is the "anybody other than Rigo" option?

do you mean top 25 pound for pound, cause Russell is definitely top 25 featherweight.

At the time that they fought, Russell was about #24 in his division on boxrec. His best win up to that point was Christopher Perez, a.k.a. some nobody. I probably made a small miscalculation, since #24 is just inside of the divisional top 25. But I definitely didn't mean top 25 pound-for-pound.

I couldn't care less about the Boxrec ranking.
Anyone who watches boxing knows Russell was at least a top 10 guy in the division.

I would actually like to see Loma/Cuellar but I think that could be difficult because Cuellar is a PBC guy. Sadly, so are Russell, Santa Cruz, Selby, and Mares.
Vetyeka is an interesting and underrated option as well.

Gary Russell was ranked 26 by the IWBR at the time of the fight. The pre fight ranking of his other 4 wins are;
40: Jose Ramirez 1st fight
42: Chola Piriyapinyo 4th fight
23: Gam Rodriguez 5th fight
42: Romulo Koasicka 6th fight
Gary Russell had only fought 4 top 100 opponents prior to the Lomanchenko fight. Only was was ranked inside the top 50 (45) He was WBO ranked 1.

Resume-wise Russell may not have been top 20, but ability-wise I think he was at least top 10 and I don't think he drastically improved from when he lost to Loma to when he beat Gonzalez just 2 fights later.
I believe that Loma is ready to be matched with pretty much anyone around his weight, though I think he could still benefit from having more fights--against better opposition than he's faced recently though--prior to facing an elite opponent; someone like Vetyeka would be appropriate.

What is the "IWBR" ? What does that acronym stand for?

I want to see Loma va Rigo, this is the fight that makes the most sense seeing that they are the two best there anyway and both two time Olympic Gold Medalist.

Rios is alright but he'd have absolutely nothing for Lomachenko. I'd rather see Gradovich in there. He's a Top Rank guy so it should be doable.
But I do still think Vetyeka is the best option without a PBC affiliation.

He uses Gradovich as a punching bag.
Gradovich struggles with footwork and Loma has the best footwork in boxing at the moment.

I prefer Rigo, but Walters and Santa Cruz would be great too.

Rigondeaux is with Roc Nation, so no real hurdles there, unless the Cuban wants to stick with his "I'm a 122-pounder" theme. Vetyeka is a solid secondary option.
It's too bad politics cuts up the division like this. It's loaded with talent but Lomachenko can't get a piece of the other guys. He could unify within a year if they would let him.

Rigo has said he will fight any 126lber if they agree to a 10 pound re-hydration limit. That would make for some great fights if someone would agree. Lomo apparently won't agree, so he must re-hydrate much higher than that.

I wonder what the hold up is then? Loma won't fight Walters because he re-hydrates too much, but won't agree to a re-hydration clause that won't affect him? Someone doesn't want to fight Rigo. Is it Loma or Arum?

Loma PUBLICLY agreed to the re-hydration clause. Rigo then went back on his word and dropped his management team. Based on his last outing, it's no wonder why.
