Off the top of my head Kovalev, Golovkin, Klitcshko, Beterbiev, Lebedev, Chakkiev, Kudrayshov, Uysk, etc are all KO artists- it seems like the ex Soviet states have disproportionately harder punchers than anywhere else- Why do you think this is?

No, I don't think they are, they just have been taught proper technique in the amateurs.

It seems that way; but was not that way for the years when Soviets first turned pro. I think training techniques and diet has made the difference

In the light of all the doping allegations in Athletics with Russia, I can understand the temptation to jump to conclusions ... But there are plenty of high profile fighters and champions like Postol and Senchecko who are powder puff punchers.

I've never thought they had a greater % of 1 KO punchers than any other country?

Colín Jone and Enzo Macrinelli are both from Swansea, I consider people from Swansea to be the hardest punchers.

Not Rocky he didn`t. Rocky was like iron, he would not bend.

I thought Drago's power was well overrated, mainly because a of the Creed fight. Creed was so over the hill he shouldn't have been licensed.
Rocky himself was well past it, he was at the end fighting Laing who stopped him easily in the first fight. By the time he fought the Russian he was much further down the line. Despite Drago catching him with his best shots over and over again he couldn't put him away.
As I said Balboa's punch resistance was gone by the time he fought Laing which was the main reason he changed his style to jab and move in the second fight.

As a country Colombia seem to produce a disproportionate number of punchers, probably because they have poor techniques and throw hail Mary punches from all angles.
They nearly always get found out at top level, but make for entertaining fights.

Also fair to say some of the opponents they fight to pad their records are bloody awful
