"Cocaine Bear" as a sponsor... epic.

Tafa got hands. The opening was fun and a legit draw.

Islam dominated the ground game and landed some clean shots, controlled much of the match, half of it was really close, but that wasn't enough for Volkanovski.

Alex still a beast at lightweight, though.

Islam deserved the win there.

Many people crying robbery.

It was a close fight.

Split decision would have gone down better, but then people hear the 49-46 scorecard. It makes it seem like the fix was on.

Yup, the UD kind of suggests it, an SD could have made most of the people go "whatever".

You cannot win a title on wishing upon swing rounds.

I had it 3 rounds to 2 for Islam but I thought the 5th was pretty close to 10-8.

Think this forum is about the only place where people aren't kicking up a fuss about the decision. 1 and 4 clear Islam rounds, 3 and 5 clear Volk rounds. 2 was a toss up, I thought Islam edged it. A close fight that could have gone either way but people want their man to win. Volk is clearly still p4p #1. Let them both get a few more defences in their divisions and run it back.

I think it is that Volk had the most dominant round, did more damage and Islam's control wasn't damaging. Control without damage. It is a flaw in the way MMA is scored IMO. It should be more about what is done with the control rather than who has the control but that would be difficult to quantify as well.

I agree that Volk should still be #1. I think if you go up in weight and take the champ to a razor thin decision then ranking shouldn't be impacted.

Jim Miller becoming the 4th most active in the UFC ring, and still beating fools up. Lost against Hernandez just due to that guillotine reversal at the end.

Bravo Erin Blanchfield, didn't show respect to Andrade and predated any situation possible to snatch a win.

Can any hardcore MMA fans give a rundown on Jones - Gane?

Jones is the favourite, but this is his first fight at heavy and he hasn’t fought for 3 years. It seems his last 3 fights were not that impressive….

Gane looks massive, I don’t think he has that much power though but at one stage he was meant to be the next greta heavyweight….
:TU:
I’m just looking for an expert breakdown as I’m a casual essentially.

The questions surrounding this fight are if Gane can keep it standing because Jones' ground game is way better than his. Gane's only chance is to keep the fight standing. Other questions are how much will the weight gain will affect Jones' speed and how rusty will he be because of the long layoff. I think Jones will still win because he still has the reach advantage and knows how to use it to his advantage.

Highly smart performance by Gamrot, slipping away every time Turner landed in and going for the ground and pound.

Rakhmonov/Neal was a blast; Geoff blocking every takedown and landing heavy hands but Shavkat getting thousand tricks up from the sleeve was a sight to see.

I thought Jones’ striking had improved as well. He used to be a lot more ‘goofy’ looking with his striking and made some mistakes but his huge reach made it difficult for anyone to take advantage of. Although it was only a small sample he looked a lot tighter.

Stupidly easy win though. I don’t like the guy he is a POS but he probably is the MMA GOAT, even with the drug scandals.
