I missed the first few seconds of the press conference this morning, but it's my understanding that the two brothers are financing this fight.

Who are they?

If this goes ahead they will lose a lot of money.
January 16th !!! No TV or undercard yet & trying to sell tickets just after Xmas is going to be very tough.

It will be on TV and it will have an undercard, they just haven't sorted it out yet. I have a feeling they'll lose money on this. Fair play to them for giving it a go. :TU:

I wonder if this is a bit of a one off venture for the brothers or if they are planning to have a serious crack at promoting boxing?

They obviously have a lot of capital and plenty of marketing experience, all they need now is a tv deal, and with Haye as their poster boy that shouldn't be a problem.

So what is their experience? The only thing on that Wikipedia page is Haye's comeback!

Quick look on their site all I can find is they were behind a big testicular cancer awareness campaign which included tv shows etc

Maybe Haye will punch his way out of a giant nutsack on his way to the ring.

Reckon they will go down the PBC model and have the fight on ITV like McGuigan did??

I'd guess Haye is more popular amongst the wider public than with regular boxing fans at the moment, so that model could work for him.

Good luck to 'em.

You need deep pockets in this game.

I'd say this is a risky proposition. I don't think there's a great deal of good will with the british PPV buying public where Haye is concerned, after the showing against Wlad, then two pull-outs against Fury - now I'm not saying all of that is Haye's fault, but as a punter spending money, it's not a good look, and isn't going to encourage people to hand over hard earned money to watch Haye - obviously the first fight won't be PPV (well, I certainly hope not!) - but I'm not sure many people will tune in even if it is free to air. Going forward it's going to be hard to recoup on investment, unless Haye fights often enough to rebuild his tarnished profile.

I'm just going off the bit on their page where it says that their ventures include Music, sport and television.

The guy hosting it works with haye on the MMA events on spike - same ownership as C5 - wouldn't be surprised if this is on C5

Think Haye did his bit to support The Feeling Nuts campaign (actually a very admirable cause) which the Slaters headed-up, so he's coming back with some clever, preppy London marketing/PR boys who know other famous folk rather than the usual boxing biz types.

Could be very showbiz at ringside...if Haye ever gets there

I heard Eddie Hearn is terrified that these guys are going to spoil sales of his annual calendar. Apparently he sees them as a genuine threat to his poster boy status.

Agree, although in the current climate, and with his name known to your "man in the street" he's only two explosive wins away from a lucrative HW title shot. Your casual fan will have forgotten his non performance against wlad and the Fury drop outs too.

Yes, especially as Wlad has now lost the titles. Fury's win was hardly dynamite visually either - though of course he did manage to win it.

Had Wlad won, things would have been harder for Haye.

He has a showdown with Joshua in the offing, which I think is a 50-50 fight. Joshua lacks experience, but he is bigger, and a natural heavyweight, and I don't think Haye will stand up to many shots of Joshua lands, but if Haye lands big first - it could well be goodnight Vienna.

I think that it will probably be, voluntary, followed by rematch with Wlad - which I expect Fury to win handily - and then all other things being equal, the way is clear for the fight. By then, Haye if he has beaten Joshua will be high profile again.

If not, it's Joshua v Fury, which won't happen for a while, as there's no financial sense on doing that just yet.
