Who are the fighters that are retired that when you see their names or get reminded about them makes you reminisce of the good old days!!

UK fighters I miss:

Chris Eubank: One of my all time great boxers and loved the way he boxed and acquitted himself.

Nigel Benn: Although a Eubank fan I still loved watching Benn.

Scott Harrison: It's a shame that Scott's career went the way it did but on his day he was immense.

Lennox Lewis: Just loved watching him out box and KO the top dogs at Heavyweight.

Michael Brodie: Watched him all the way through on TV and was gutted after the Injin Chi fight. Great style and lovely left hook to the body.

Colin Dunne: Wasn't the hardest puncher but worked like a demon!

Howard Eastman: Always thought he wasted his talent and should have been World Champion.


Around the World;

Diego Corrales: Vulnerable but skilful, you never knew what would happen but it was always exciting!!

Marco Antonio Barrera: Remember him coming to UK and bashing up all of our Super Bantams and loved watching him beat Naz.

Eric Morales: Him vs Barrera was immense and even before that I used to stay up late watching his fights.

Winky Wright: Another boxer that came over to the UK and bashed up our top boys at Light Middle. He has a great style and fought everyone.

Tito Trinidad: Exciting fighter that had all the skill and a punch to beat most.

Oscar Dela Hoya: Watched him move through the weight winning fights against guys that were supposed to be too big for him.

Acelino Freitas: The hard hitting Brazilian KO'd the allegedly presenter for his WBO title! Always exciting.

Micky Ward: Always written off but was well worth watching especially with the trilogy with Gatti.

Arturo Gatti: After mentioning Mickey Ward I had to mention him!!

Riddock Bowe: Really thought he under achieved tbh and think if he stayed motivated would have been Lennox Lewis greatest threat at Heavyweight.


All of the fighter above can give me that feeling in your stomach when you watch a great fight or fighter!! I could probably go on for ages with more but I'd like to hear others on here speak about the fighters they miss the most!! I know there will be ones I will think 'god I can't believe I forgot about him'

So who you miss?

Hatton and Hamed.

Couldn't think of 2 less similar fighters but both entertainers in pretty much every fight.

Floyd, he was just so much fun to watch, I'm gutted I'm not American so I could have played $70 a pop for his shows.....

Evander Holyfield, always gave it everything, some fantastic fights and big upsets.

Got to be Prince Naseem for me. Absolutely loved watching his fights. Wish I'd been of the right age to see him live a few times but that's life. It was probably seeing his fights that really got me into boxing.

I used to love the era of middles that had Hearns, Hagler, Ray, Duran and the fringe middles too. olijade and the Kronk boxers such as Oba Carr. Mike Tyson was always great to watch.

I loved watching the prime Chavez, he was incredible.

Trinidad was a great boxer to watch.

Holyfield, you just knew he'd try his absolute best.

Steve Cruz, I really liked his tidy style of Boxing.

Donald Curry was as close to perfect in the McCrory, Starling and Jones bouts.

Agree 100%. When he fought Rosario, he would have been competitive with any lightweight ever, even Benny Leonard.

Id love to see Herbie Hide in his prime now at the current cruiserweight limit.

I'd pick him to beat all cruiserweight world champions.

Worldwide I'd pick Alexis Arguello. I feel the modern era would appreciate him more as I feel he's wrongly remembered mostly for the Pryor fight.
I hate how history has that fight which he was cheated out of being his defining fight.
He achieved so much yet mention his name the first words you hear are Pryor and bottle.
He was also a great man who in modern media would of been a huge global star.

I enjoyed watching most of the names above and also Duke Mckenzie & Dennis Andries.

Duke beat some good fighters along the way & I still remember his title win over Rolando Bohol in 1988. I remember watching Bohol & his team walk out with the Philippine flag & I didn't have a Danny where it was. Two decades later & went there & it's one of the most amazing places I've seen.

Andries was Boxing Heart Personified. You know his story. Amazing warrior.

On a World scene I enjoyed following the career of Brian Mitchell - a fighter I think is very under-rated when people talk about recent greats. Lost his 7th fight (avenged 3 times with unfortunate results) & then went unbeaten in his last 42 bouts, mostly on the road, with a load of title defences.

I also loved Jeff Fenech & having him leave a voice message on my phone calling me an "unwashed Pommie pudendum" is one of, if not the, proudest moments of my life
