Gennady Golovkin Vs Tureano Johnson , Timedate: February , HBO World Championship Boxing , Location: England-Monaco
Gennady Golovkin Vs Andy Lee , Timedate: May , HBO World Championship Boxing (Maybe PPV) , Location: Hiouston-New York-LA
Gennady Golovkin Vs Erislandy Lara , Timedate: September , HBO World Championship Boxing , Location: Mexico City-Las Vegas-Florida
Gennady Golovkin vs Mandatory , Timedate: December , HBO world Championship Boxing , Location: Chicago-Dallas
Do you think this schedule is possible? Only questionmark is Lara.. Will Haymon allow him to fight on HBO?
If it can happen this could be great backup plan for GGG, He wins every of those fights by Knockout and will become undisputed by May.

Well Golovkin is there, waiting patiently for the Cotto/Canelo winner and that WBC belt the WBC hace promised him.
Canelo is in a tough spot, if he doesn't now fight Golovkin for the WBC muddleweight belt.... who does he defend it against, and what's justification for chosing another opponent?

Well it will be called a duck, another world champion that ducked Gennady Golovkin at 160.. Just like Felix Sturm,Daniel Geale,Darren Barker,Sergio Martinez,Miguel Cotto,Peter Quillin,Sam Soliman,Jermain Taylor and now add Canelo Alvarez.. I think there isnt ANY other fighter that has been ducked by so many champions in a single division, its fornicating absurd.
And I can proove that all those fighters ducked Gennady either being offered the fight when they were champions OR publicly saying they wont go near him (Sam Soliman, Miguel Cotto, Peter Quillin)

It would be a high profile & transparent duck.
I feel for Canelo a bit... he's ended up Middleweight champ but thanks to his own catchweight stipulations hasn't fought higher than 155.
If i were his coach & manager i wouldn't want his first bout at the 160 limit to be the beast that is Golovkin. But he's going to look chicken shit now if he takes another opponent.

More like a duck & a killing machine. I think he'll take the Golovkin fight for cinco de mayonaisse. Kid has balls.

If the fight falls through then it should be GGG vs Ward (Andre moves back to 168 and they meet for a CW at 165, though I don't like CWs) and Canelo should face Bradley.
Both fights would be really good fights, personally I think Bradley is much too small for Saul and I think Ward and Triple G are roughly the same size on fight night.
None of the other Chickensh*t MIWs will want to face Triple G which is why I'm suggesting the Ward CW fight.

185-pound Ward and 170-pound Golovkin are the same size on fight night ??? Ward was a LHW at the age of 19 !
P.S. At 165-166, Golovkin beats Ward easily. Ward will likely have problems making 168.

GGG better be looking for another opponent.Because no way does the fight with Canelo happen
next year.

If it doesn't happen in the spring, then GGG will have the WBC belt and will try to fight Lee next.

what if canelo vacates and gets to lee first? probably more money for lee fighting canelo, and that puts
canelo back in the same position he's in now (a title and possible unification), except for the mandatory.
one thing for sure is lee is going to get well over a million in his next fight if he gets past saunders

The OP inadvertently makes the best argument for why lil g will fight Canelo at 155.
There just isn't the payday with anyone else.
And good observation, Sweet Jesus, I had the same thought.
You can bet that if Canelo doesn't get lil g at 155, he will get the winner of Lee-Saunders at it.
And I bet the WBC will gladly call THAT his mandatory.

It makes sense.
Will it do the same as a Golovkin fight?
Hell no!
But it will be a nice payday nonetheless.
And they will PPV it.
Throw Ward (already under contract) and Loma on it and it does well.

Lemieux got $1.5 mil, so for the last remaining belt, Golovkin would offer even more if necessary.
Also, Canelo dropping WBC belt to duck Golovkin and then going after Lee wouldn't be seen too favorably by his fans. The only good excuse for dropping the belt would be going back to 154.

Not real sure if K2 has deeper pockets than GBP.
And since it is going to be HBO involved, and Canelo is a more valuable star to them than Gennady,
my guess is Canelo wins if there is a bidding war for Lee or Saunder's services.
No way Lee takes a lil g fight instead of a Canelo tilt...
As far as the fans go, they have plenty of material to spin what happens positively for Saul.
All they have to do is roll out the statements made by Loeffler, Sanchez and Gennady himself from last year.

at middle that's where the chess match is i bet. i imagine if caneo's fans are going to forgive the 155 talk
and a duck of any kind, they would find a way to excuse it as long as they could still claim a GGG match
is in the works. of course as long as canelo can make 154 he has options there as well without appearing
as much like a ducker. the comments about not being a real middleweight and GGG needing to meet him
at his own class for the middleweight strap are so convoluted that i imagine even his die hards are squirming
a little. i mean, defend the strap or give it up and be honest about where you belong. once GGG has the
4 belts locked up, canelo is not going be able to avoid ggg at middle and he can't return to 154 for much
longer anyways, and when he comes back, the deal will be significantly worse for him. i think the lateral
move to get to lee first, as sneaky as it is, gives him life at both 154 and 160 and allows him to delay GGG,
and lee would accept all of canelo's terms including catch weights and less money than GGG would demand.

Canelo going after Lee is genius.Oscar could save face for his promotions golden goose.
This makes the most sense to me on what is going to happen.

Canelo already looks like a duck. Damage is done. He can fight Andrade at 155, but doubt he will. I think Andrade gives him another loss.

he could arguably invite any rival he had at 154 up to 160 to defend the wbo against
if he got to lee, first, and continue his paydays, and maybe cut off some of GGG's
contenders at 160 as well, like quillin/jacobs/eubank. canelo could actually play spoiler
at 160 and break GGG's planned monopoly. this could go on for a while and all it does
is frustrate GGG. i would think that they would eventually have to fight but hopefully
not years down the road.

Ducking how?
I get that 155 IS technically middleweight.
But you have a guy who has never fought a true middleweight saying he WILL fight arguably the best one out there
if only that middleweight will do what he said he would last year and what he still says he will do for another fighter.
I'm sorry, but in my book that aint a duck if the fight isn't made.
And I am guessing his fans will see it like that as well.

"Canelo between a rock and a hard place "
No he isn't.
Canelo isn't worried about anything he's boxing new cash cow, the biggest thing in boxing right now.
And at only 25 yrs old has a looooong career ahead of him.
GGG on the other hand is who is between a rock and hard place. He's 33 going on 34 a khazak who doesn't speak english really and ppl aren't rushing to fight him cuz he's not exactly bringing in the big $$$$.
GGG clock is ticking
Canelo is just getting started .

Canelo would hurt Lee badly.
Anyone thinking otherwise should just stop watching boxing.

Yes you are right. It is an easy win for Canelo and a way to avoid GGG for a while.
It really would be a great move.
Who is Lee's promoter? Is this even a possibility?

dibella has lots of middleweights in his stable he could match with lee. macklin is also irish and
could be a good fight in limerick or dublin. sergio mora and others could be competitive.
dibella doesn't have anybody that would make lee as much as alvarez or GGG, though, and
dibella will work with anybody to put on big fights, especially in new york. it is dibella who
stages the events at barclays for haymon's new york based fighters, including the lee-quillin fight

Backup plan is good for boxing too
GGG vs Quillin/Jacobs winner
Canelo vs Andrade
