As I've been talked into buying this fight (and am now thoroughly looking forward to it to be fair), I'm wondering if you have to have a HD subscription to view the HD option?

Both standard and HD are available to select but I don't want something going tits up later when I'm half cut. I could ask Sky but I'm not confident I'd get a reliable answer. And I can't be arsed to listen to them talk about all the extra things they could provide me with at a cost.

You don't need an HD subscription for the HD option as it's a one off purchase. Not sure how the price differs though? As long as your TV is HD ready you're fine.

I'm not totally sure this is right mate, I spoke to a mate of mine who ordered a HD movie and said it played for five minutes then cut off.... Might be worth cheking with Sky? If the above knows better than me then I'll wind my neck in, just going off what I've been told.

I dont have a Sky Sports HD subscription and have always ordered Sky Box Office events selecting the HD option. It works absolutely fine every time (provided you have an HD TV obviously)

Yup, this is correct. I have the HD package now, but previously bought PPVs before upgrading & was always able to watch the PPV in HD.

Edit: just checked on my Sky, it is the same price for both.

Feel sorry for the Virgin Media customers, no HD at all on that platform for PPVs.

Was just going to post the same thing there. I switched from Sky a while ago. Just ordered the PPV and wasn't given the option..... Cock bags!

Forget buying ppv get a dodgy box. After night my box is paid for via ppv saves plus get all footy and movies

Sadly I'm a cop so don't have that luxury

Yeah, I always seem to get a sense of relief when the PPV loads ok, even though never had any issues! Same as I always lurch forward when stepping onto a stationary escalator. Double relief when HD channel ok! :)

Interesting I never noticed this before on the Sky Site:
"Please note: the best way to book is by using your Sky remote as you’ll be able to record the event using Sky+. Bookings made online or over the phone can't be recorded. Read our help article to find out more"

Shame I booked online as looks like I can't record. Though they always seem to replay them on standard Sky Sports in the following few days now.
