I know there are a lot of Fury threads (understandably) but I will be really interested in the USA reaction to the win. And what do they know / what will they think of Tyson Fury as a character?

In the old days Americans would basically just slag off European heavies, but now the tables have turned. I still expect a lot of negativity but I will be reading up to see what they think of Tyson. Which way will they go, positive or negative? Here is a round up:

Positive
- Americans seem obsessed with the Irish, and they can claim him as an Irishman
- Fury is a character and great for a quick quote
- Fury is a Christian and talks about Jesus. A lot of America loves that stuff
- Tyson Fury is a name so good, that even Rocky films couldn't make it up

Negative
- he looks a little clumsy (he's 6ft9 after all) and you can see Americans talking about the glory days when the U.S. ruled the division and making excuses for their own failure recently
- they may find it difficult to understand the Irish/English/Traveller background of Fury...Americans like things simple. This may confuse them.

How do we think the U.S. will react to Tyson's win?

I think they will accept him as the Lord and saviour of heavyweight boxing amen.

Him and Wilder over there would be a bit of a carnival. They'd lap it up.

Couldn't care less. He isn't going to be fighting there while Peter can't get a visa and the big money and big fights are over here for him.

They'll like and respect him more than the British do.

Not sure about that - have you read the comments on CS about him?

I picked him to win straight up, even thought he would overwhelm Vlad and stop him in the 11th. So I was happy to see the result. He did well, and Vlad was exactly what I thought he was. If Fury was at his best he would have dropped him hard. Tyson just gets no respect.Well he's got it now. Good.

Best chance of having an American undisputed heavyweight world champion.

No he wasnt allowed in the US, Tyson fought without him, which is why when his original tactics started to fail against Cunningham there wasn't the same level of tactical advise coming in from his corner so Fury went to war instead and basically just beat Cunningham up.

I'm American, and I think he's a walking KO loss waiting to happen still. Least impressive Championship win I've ever seen. Fury won because of hitting Wlad's arms. Wlad lost because of refusing to fight.

Yeah I did. His fights sucked hard, but they weren't quite that bad.

Like the one who spoke up above I would imagine they all now think their boy Wilder is the champ and will steam roll Fury..

As someone who isn't from either country I think Fury is under rated because we doesn't fight in that traditional heavyweight style. He looks sloppy and clumsy but he managed to do what no one has really come close to before, outbox Vlad.

I would imagine he will be hoping everyone else will continue to underestimate him by his looks and boxing style..

Do you not give Fury any credit for doing what he had to do to win? He knew he couldn't trade with Wlad or stand and exchange jabs, so he executed a game plan.

Not only were numerous Ruiz fights individually far worse, but he was consistently bad over a number of years.

Sometimes it is all about getting the "W". He won in the manner that got the win and the world title which is a massive achievement and the style of the fight falls away into the background under the glaring light of the accomplishment.

Although I did watch Champions Forever yesterday, educating a newer girlfriend and half way through realised that these great fights were for the same title and status. Put it into perspective a little.

BUT, from casual Fury fan to fully on the train. Really enjoying him.
