Klitschko v Fury: The Casual View

Anyone else at work (or socially) had the misfortune of having to listen to friends or colleagues provide their 'expert' opinions on the fight? Some real gems in our office today, including...

"If these are the two best boxers in the world, like, the highest level you can be, then it was rubbish. Both were fat and rubbish. Anyone with some fitness could take either of them. How was it even professional?"

"For me, I just don't see how you can call yourself 'World Champion' without knocking the other person out. It's not right."

"Haha he lives in a caravan"

Neither had I, which compelled me to post tbh. Baffling. I just let them talk themselves out. No use involving myself and having to drop down to their level.

Heard this one a few times, along with (pre fight) "Fury is rubbish" and when confronted post fight "boring as hell"....

To be fair, I've read that on here twice in as many days.
And we're supposed to be knowledgeable boxing fans

Bet365 have Joshua a favourite over Fury, AJ flattening Fury is a common opinion from casuals, boxing and fans, and also the betting market.

The tone suggested literally anyone. Just get on a diet, go for a few jogs and you or me can be Heavyweight World Champion.

You'd like to think anyone with a brain would at least re-consider that opinion after Saturday night.

So was Price flattening Fury a few years ago. Not necessarily saying AJ couldn't beat him, but it's far too early in his career to really know.

I wouldn't mate - I'm not saying he wouldn't be able to, I was just stating the most frequent 'casual view' I have come across since Saturday, or indeed even half way through the fight.

It's possible he could, but I'd like to wait to see him get punched back before stating he would flatten the top guys with ease.

If Haye was even 80% of what he was pre-injury, I agree.

We all laugh and joke about the casuals but I've just as much nonsense over the years from paid professional pundits, some of whom made a good career out of boxing themselves.

A couple of casuals in our work like regurgitating the lines off the Sky team and Eddie and use that as the context for their wider knowledge. Frustrating at times.

Did I hear this right during the Sky commentary... Carl the Cobra Froch was struggling how to score a round with a point deduction?

Yup. Seems to be something that almost everyone struggles with for some reason?

Yes.

If you listen to some of the shit Glenn McCrory talks, if you didn't know he was a British, Commonwealth and IBF Cruiserweight champion you'd think he was just some drunken gobshite from down the pub.
