Respect to Tyson Fury

I think Tyson Fury deserves huge credit for taking on an established heavyweight champion, in his back yeard, and comfortably beating him, when no one else had come close for years and year and years.

In addition to this, he had to put up with various shenanigans i.e. the gloves, the ring apron, and Wlad wrapping his own hands unannounced. The Klitschko’s seem to have form for this kind of behaviour – Wlad making Chisora unwrap his hands again, Haye getting sent the wrong way into the ring. All a bit underhand and sneaky.

I was particularly impressed how Tyson Fury got into the ring full of confidence and excitement. He reminded a bit of Holyfield getting in the ring with Mike Tyson. He expected to win, and so did Tyson Fury.

I also admire the way he has been very loyal to Mick Hennessy, when 99% of the stable has left.

There is a lot to commend Tyson Fury and I am looking forward to watching the heavyweight scene unfold. With the return of Haye there is a lot of good fights out there. I think Fury would beat Klitschko more convincingly next time, although I suspect Wlad might retire – it looked like a changing of the guard type of fight to me.

It was a great result, deserves to be praised for deserving it regardless of Wladimir's age / hunger.

Not buying the hype about him as being suddenly a cut above the crowd though. He's learnt to use his size really well, but still a but clumsy and nothing special in the power stakes.

Without a doubt he deserves massive respect for a phenomenal achievement. Ive read and heard too much about how bad a fight it was etc... That's neither here nor there. He did what he had to do against an established dominant champion and he deserves all the credit going. Lots of people wrote him off, me included. Great for him personally and the icing on the cake for what has been a great year for British boxing. Long may it continue.

I agree with everything you said, apart from that I did think he could win! A truly great achievement for Tyson! He can only be applauded for what he has done! Well deserved :TU: :salut: I wonder if he will get an MBE for it? I hope so, other boxers have got them for lesser achievements in boxing.

Ahhh, this feels good. :yay: Tyson Fury deserves all the credit in the world and should be basking in the glory of what an amazing achievement occured on Saturday.

Considering the huge step up in class it was for Fury, he looked so comfortable and confident in there. Vladimir just didn't know how to deal with him, try as he might.

I've been a believer since Fury stormed to the ABA title all those years ago and thoroughly enjoyed his professional career all the way through to him reaching the pinnacle by become the bona fida heavyweight champion of the world. I knew he could do it, but it's still a staggering achievement.

Mick Hennessy has steered him brilliantly, when many would have failed to handle and cope with a personality like Fury, and deserves huge credit too. Peter Fury has proved crucial in developing Tyson too.

Whilst it was always a nervious watch, I did feel Fury had the fight won by the 5th round (i think) when he landed that crunching left hook after Vladimir came out of a spin. The damage to Vlad's face showed the strain he was being put under by Fury.

Congratulations Tyson Fury. Thoroughly deserved and thank you for such an entertaining ride :TU:  :box:

Yes very well done by Fury on the night and he deservedly won the fight

I cant help but think the there was something wrong with Wlad even by his standards he was very very poor carrying an injury perhaps

Anyway the rematch would show us either way looking forward to it

Brilliant tactical win and I have to say I think Peter Fury deserves all the praise in the world for coming up with that kind of plan.

Most would have thought that Tyson's main chance of winning was to get Klitschko out of his comfort zone of jab jab right hand and the way to do that was obviously get stuck in and unsettle him, we all know he don't like being hit.

Did they go that way, not a bit of it and I have yet to talk to anyone why thought Fury could win the fight basically off the back foot the whole way through.

If someone had told me I would have thought the plan might be fair enough but not only won't it work but also Tyson won't stick to that for 12 rounds.

Not only did it work, he stuck to it brilliantly.

Full credit to Tyson but for me huge praise must go to Peter Fury.

The stick the fight has got is pathetic, as you say Peter got the game plan spot on, he doesn't have the punching power Wlad has so getting into a gun fight would of been stupid, Fury played to his strengths and used his advantages, when Mayweather fights defensively for 12 rounds in a boring fight he's a genius but when Fury beat Wlad he gets no respect from the media and many posters from the usual idiots in the CS forum. Btw I am NOT comparing Fury's skills with Mayweather's.

I lost money on the fight but its happiest I've ever been losing money.

I think discipline and sticking to the plan was what shocked me more than the plan itself
I've seen Tyson look impressive before but make individual errors and have lapses.
If Tyson can show that same concentration and dedication to his game plan in the future he will be very very hard to beat.
He has weaknesses but like Wlad, if he chooses the right tactics to negate them and work to his physical advantages he will take some toppling.

Mayweather boxes on back foot (some may say negatively) using a safety first hit and don't get hit ethos, he's a genius. Fury does it, for first time in his career, and he's slated.

Hurrah for Fury, very few gave him a chance, he did exactly what he said he would! Hopefully he'll be a shot in the arm for boxing. He could do for boxing what McGregor has done for UFC, providing he doesn't bang on about homosexuals being on a par with paedophiles etc... That's a no no

When was the last British heavyweight (or any weight class) to win the English, British, Irish, commonwealth, European and then win the ibo, ibf, wbo, wba, and ring titles?

How the man isn't getting the credit he deserves especially from so called hardcore fans on this site and in the press is beyond me.

He said gays are the same as paedophiles. Would you really knight someone with those beliefs?

That's not what he said, the reporter has already said that he "may" have misquoted him. If you watch the IFL interview with him he explains how he was stitched up.

I wouldn't knight any sportsmen/women, not exactly a proper job is it.

Yah hopefully to see Fury same passion, as a rematch been confirmed between Wlad vs Fury.

No he didn't

Fury added: ‘There are only three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home: one of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other one’s paedophilia. Who would have thought in the 50s and 60s that those first two would be legalised? ‘When I say paedophiles can be made legal, that sounds like crazy talk doesn’t it? But back in the 50s and early 60s, for them first two to be made legal would have been looked on as a crazy man again. If I would have told you 120 years ago, that a 1000-tonne aeroplane is going to float through the sky, a piece of steel — ludicrous.’

He defended his comments to the interviewer stating his beliefs are based on his faith and the bible: ‘The bible was written a long time ago, from the beginning of time until now, and if I follow that and it tells me it’s wrong, then it’s wrong for me. That’s just my opinion.’

Horse my good man. I am capable of being a fan of someone and criticizing them. It is possible. It isn't blind love.

Example:

I am a fan of Canelo Alvarez, but he's still a ginger freak of nature.

All you do is slag him off.

You've recently started two threads, since his incredible achievement of becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion, pulling him down.
